#FBPE On here to follow politics, but mainly to complain about Brexit (in the forlorn hope if enough people do it will eventually help) Yachtsman, motorhomer Also have shantyrichardb.bsky.social to follow people interested in Sea Shanties and Folk Music
I was on jury service a couple of years ago, the defendant may very well have been guilty but he was found innocent because the prosecution failed to make the case beyond reasonable doubt. I dread to think what it would have been like, without a jury, if that was me, accused of something I didn't do

Most people buy the best home they can afford so, yes those with expensive houses are likely richer. But many people live in the same home when struggling with large mortgage & small kids, when comfortable, mortgage paid, kids gone, then on a small pension. Same house but different abilities to pay.

One wonders how they are going to cope with those who receive just the state pension now paying tax? The Revenue don't have the staff to collect tax, anyone over the threshold would also have a private pension they relied on setting a tax code and letting the private pension firms calculate the tax.

I saw that Ted Talk, amazing to learn Texas is the biggest producer of Green energy in the US. It's good to know there are people in the US who are not complete idiots and know renewable energy is the only way forward even if in the short term they care most about the profits they can make from oil!

If Tories (or any political party for that matter) want my vote they just need to admit inflicting Brexit on us was a terrible mistake, present a credible plan for undoing it, funding the public services we need and addressing the cost of living crisis. They don't need to spend a lot of money on me.

The UK can't go broke, it creates its own currency.

'Borrowing' is Government created money held as private wealth

Cutting NHS/public expenditure will worsen the public services people are unhappy with

Immigration provides workers for economic growth

Reform's Brexit has made everything worse.

The thing about the current Royal scandals is when you think it would have only taken a helicopter crash or a slip from the deck of a warship back in the 1970s for it to now be "King Andrew" who was having to deal with them!

Unfortunately he's my MP too. All my previous MP's, if I've emailed them about an issue, have had the courtesy to reply. So at least I knew they were aware of one of their constituents concerns, even if their reply showed they disagreed with my views on the matter. Farage has never replied.

Sadly he was allowed to sell Brexit as we would "lose nothing we had" but gain lots of advantages. To many people without the time or inclination to look closely when the question was phrased as "Do you want to keep what you have or have something better?" it sounded like a no brainer.

Not surprising at all. I'm over 65 and don't feel any party represents me.

'Old' people are often wrongly treated as a homogeneous group we are often blamed for Brexit but a third of us voted remain. (Likely the same people who currently feel no party represents them?)

Polls usually ask people who think they might vote for. A better question might be who are they most likely to vote against! Then with that information consider who the most likely beneficiaries are?
