With economic numbers pointing toward stagflation, it may be tempting for Democrats to ridicule Trump voters for bringing misery onto themselves. They should resist this urge: (1) because it reinforces the idea that Democrats are elitist and don't care about workers, and (2) because misery is real.

Many Democrats took exception to James Carville when he advised us to be patient and let Trump self-destruct. This was maybe a week ago and it looks like Carville was right. Trump has blown up the economy in record time. He's really starting to look like a Russian asset.

A penny is circulated and taxed countless times. It doesn't have to cost less than its face value. Duh.

The Democrats are currently engaged in introspection. Here's my short list of what their priorities ought to be: environment, economy, tax reform, infrastructure, universal health care, public education, electoral reform, and human rights. These are what Democrats stand for and Republicans do not.

I'm still trying to get the hang of BlueSky. I don't know how to access extended threads. Reading diverse viewpoints is what I want most from social media. Any advice?

An octogenarian's notes: When I was a kid, parents deliberately exposed their children to three childhood diseases: mumps, chicken pox, and measles. Today's vaccinations against these diseases sometimes (rarely) have side effects, so a case can be made for the old ways. But not Polio. Never Polio.

I think DJT is appointing lightweights like Kelly Loeffler, Dr, Oz, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr., etc., as media fodder. They will help his inner circle fly under the radar.

In his first term, we heard about DJT's short attention span, reluctance to read, and his addiction to TV. I doubt his personal habits will change during his second term, but he seems to be tightening his inner circle and will give them free rein.

This weekend we read about the friction between MAGA and DOGE. Neither of these acronyms represent actual departments or agencies. Rather, they're bromances: Trump and Bannon, Trump and Musk, Musk and Ramaswamy, etc. When it comes time to hammer out policies, the suits will return.
