A handful of big tweeters caused #Scarfolk to go viral and within 6 months I had the first book deal.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

#NowPlaying Vaughan Williams' score for 49th Parallel, which contains a jarring passage that coincidentally sounds like it's quoting 'We've Only Just Begun' by The Carpenters.
There should be a word for this.
Another springs to mind: Sweep (as in Sooty & Sweep) talking in a Herbie Hancock track.

Every year, without fail, people post birthday messages to a guy I know on Facebook, despite the fact that he has neither posted nor responded to their greetings, in 16 years. One always says, 'maybe we'll finally get to meet up again this year'.

So, even if your books were exploited by #Anthropic, you're only eligible for a payout if your work was registered in the US.
Typical. The rest of the world doesn't exist.
$1.5billion is going somewhere, but it ain't to millions of non-American authors.

My music app's auto-tagging function thinks this guy is avant-garde, minimalist composer Terry Riley (or free jazz trumpeter Don Cherry).
Terry looks about right, though.
Terry Coxbottoms from Wigan, whose pub-circuit/wedding singer name is Terry Cherry.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but if he had received a diagnosis back then, it would more likely have been named as asperger's. Even my official diagnosis letter (from 2021) mentions the term asperger's.

I just watched a documentary on Edward Hopper. Couldn't make eye contact; isolated himself; detail focused; experienced social discomfort; signs of depression.
Another one for team aspergers/ #autism?

You've no idea how painful it is for me to admit these things, how deeply guilty I feel. I feel like I'm a destroyer of cultural heritage. They are impossibly lucky/rare finds that have survived the decades/centuries... until I came along

I'm a bit of a jinx in this regard.
I recently picked up a cheap print from a flea market. The seller didn't realise it's an original 1930 cinema window card worth 100s. As I was carefully removing it from the damaged frame, it snapped and crumbled with the lightest touch (high acid content).

Life gives you things then takes them away.
- Found a large, old travel poster in a charity shop. 5 quid.
- Turns out it's a 1905 original. One sold in 2012 for nearly 3 grand.
- I stored it to await framing.
- Silverfish/paperfish ate it.
- Now it's worth 5 quid. At a push.

Trying to watch the new Alan Partridge.
The only way I can describe it is: Alan Partridge has turned into, well, Alan Partridge.

Meanwhile:
Google AI Overview: "'The Beatles' does not yield any results. No such music group is known to have existed. You might mean 'beetles', which are insects, but it is very unlikely that such creatures can create popular music..."

Bluesky's trends list is frustratingly US-centric. It really should be more region-specific. Europe could be sinking into the ocean and the top trends would be about some minor sport that isn't even played outside the US, or a soap star unknown outside the US.
For 12 days straight.

Philip Glass is looking at me with sheer disdain.
It's probably because I'm in Switzerland where, if you type his name into any online shop, you will only receive results for glass light bulbs made by Philips. Adding 'vinyl' increases the results to include Philips vinyl mop accessories.

Indeed. Beggs was also in Steve Hackett's band. Chester Thompson (Genesis) was in Weather Report & Zappa's band, and Daryl Steurmer (also Genesis) was in Jean-Luc Ponty's band. Plus there's the Collins/Brand X connection. Bruford's jazz stuff, too. And that's just Genesis alumni. Lots of crossovers.

Thanks. It's still possible to hear the show - there are bootlegs circulating

Over the years, I've casually looked for the poster advertising Miles Davis's 1st UK tour in 1960, especially the Manchester Free Trade Hall show. Nothing has ever come up, but then I remembered I'm a graphic designer, so...

Here you go...
Probably the last time David drew Mr Benn.
It's a treasured souvenir.
