Chemical and environmental engineering. I regulate water quality for SF Bay (PFAS, PCBs, mercury, nutrients). Just like you, I ADORE physics and mathematics! AI bot convos welcome! Prepare to be flummoxed.
I think this is definitely a job for @dieworkwear.bsky.social

Ah memories: Ralph's grocery in SoCal went big with this concept back in the day.

You are 1/3 Angeleno, my friend. Keep trying.

3 questions:
1) What do you call Interstate 10? Like, I am now driving on ______________, and traffic is terrible.
2) Have you been stuck in freeway traffic so severe that you have exited vehicle to socialize with other drivers?
3) Do you complain about weather when temp dips below 55F?

I think you are ignoring the fact that Uber Eats cost much more now than it did back in our day.

Luxury! In my day, what we would have given to be shot and have a quick death. We had to cultivate bees, get the honey with no protection and then slather our bee stung bodies with the honey and we were then eaten alive by bears whose poo was used to fertilize the flowers pollinated by the bees.

Hey Dan - just had a long convo with my wife about this skeet of yours. We are not cat owners so we wondered if you have determined if cats have an internal clock that tells them it is feeding time or if they are going by light cues.

Does he believe what he is saying? I am not sure if his believing is better than just BS-ing. He has shown himself not to be .....um...not the brightest bulb so I am leaning toward the former.

This would be a terrible terrible place to drop acid.

There are probably a lot of anxious parents out there who are not looking forward to the Trump admin ending bc their incel man-child living in the basement and working USG social media will once again be unemployed and miserable.

Have you been under a rock, Kai? Of course we are!

it is just amazing that a fashion innovator is so much into physics. that is sooooo cool!!!
November 7, 2025 at 8:08 PM
I want to hear what you have to say about that light reflection problem first before making my decision about following you.
November 7, 2025 at 8:06 PM
can you explain how "probability amplitudes rotate and interfere" work in terms of the example in book of light reflecting off front and back surfaces of a sheet of glass and determining the amount of reflection depending on the thickness of the glass. can you explain that to me in simple terms?
November 7, 2025 at 8:04 PM
Excellent. btw - I assume you are into physics too. Have you read QED by Richard Feynman? I have read it a couple of times and I get stuck a bit when he uses the analogy of a spinning hand on a clock to represent the phase of electromagnetic energy. Were you able to understand that?

oh my goodness, yes. mesmerizing.

Forgot to acknowledge that you have a good point here about a desperate admin using violence, which is, afterall, qhite appropriate since you are the worst person I know.

When allocating attention and effort to 1) convincing people to vote and 2) worrying about ICE raids on polling places, I would suggest something like a 90:10 split. I also contend that efforts spent on maximizing voter participation greatly mitigate how successful those ICE raids would be.

So, would those be the Boomer Doomers?
November 7, 2025 at 5:13 AM
If I were a betting man, I would not place my money on "those who wish to inspire a more creative approach to taking on the system", and I would be a bit pissed at those people if they try to dissuade others from pursuing a more pragmatic and achievable goal of simply avoiding authoritarianism.
November 7, 2025 at 5:10 AM
I would think that a preferable approach to encourage participation would be to convince people that the game is not over and in fact can be readily won through voting. I don't see how "all hope is lost, fascism has prevailed" is super motivating.
November 7, 2025 at 4:56 AM
I have also wondered something very similar. The way I think of it is this: if the heartbreak is going to come, let me have some control over the pain by thinking all hope is *already* lost. Somehow it seems worse to keep hope alive only to have those hopes dashed in the future.

Totally agree. I told him this very thing...that his hopelessness is what the admin wants him to feel and it serves their purpose. I think this point is important and we should remind people they are being manipulated to feel hopeless and to be on guard against this feeling.
