In my experience, there's usually a threaded hose connector on the bottom outside that you can connect a hose to and run it somewhere lower than you.

It's good to hear others chime in about how overwhelmed they are by the insanity/ineptitude/cruelness/buffoonery of it all. I've been constantly amazed in all directions.
