I've always thought of Margin Call as a rom-com, myself...

Listening to the coverage of the DoD typefarce yesterday, I was surprised no-one mentioned that MS Word changed the out-of-box font to Calibri a while back, I thought. (Maybe I'm wrong? I didn't remember changing my personal default...) Most recently I think it shifted to Aptos...

People suggest stupid shit all the time, especially tech people. My guess is this will be a badly thought out gift from people with too much disposable income for relatives they don't know very well or like much, then it'll go out of business. 95% of AI goes the way of Humane Pin IMHO...

It's almost like they've been looking for fresh bagholders now that intense competition has reduced the obvious opportunities for snapping up mis-priced assets and financial engineering...

I'm betting the dead Leave voters heavily outweigh the dead Remainers.

It's been downhill since the original radio series IMHO... Even the later Adams books are a bit wincy.

PS: What's the key combination for the three-dots "therefore" and "because" that one uses in equations? Surely that ought to be an emoji or something, it'd be very useful on character-limited social media...

2/2 Then on the other hand, the most recent examples of a Bad Thing serve as lightning-rods for general malaise. In your case, we lambast the Starmer Government, but it's the whole of politics that's broken (including the last three Tory governments...), not just them. We've erased nuance.

It's symptomatic of a generalisation/degeneralisation problem the whole world seems to have. On the one hand, you *must* generalise about groups (according to your tribe) based on the most extreme versions. E.g. "End immigration" or "free-for-all immigration" are the only acceptable stances... 1/2

Reverse version: find ways to help people who have showed some recollection and smile but have clearly forgotten your name. Mine is "Nice to see you - you know my wife said to be only yesterday, 'Richard, we really should get out more' and she was right!"

Interesting, and nickable. Anecdata, but when I've been asking CFOs and CoSecs (v. limited sample) most seem to think they *should* be doing something, but vert few are rolling the dice except on very limited processes overseen by people know their AI.

Pure vibe-guess, but I think this will be fairly typical: "80%" grunt work goes out to AI, but both the edge-cases that demand much deeper sensitivity, and the auditing of AI outputs, will demand humans in place for a while. (Self-driving cars are *such* a good analogy for the whole of AI IMHO...)

Actually, on a serious note: we talk a lot about "resilience" declining, but the world cushions us all so much more now. It's the modern dilemma: we make things better, especially for people who are inherently anxious; but unless we're careful, we *create* the conditions for anxiety for most people.

I think about this a lot. Trying to imagine doing telephone ad sales 1990s-style now is *wild*.

This, although I was too stingy to pay for the extra memory ("oh, ho, it's all cloud now, why pay Apple tax...") and as a result I am severaly restricted, particularly for gaming. (Main use if Notability, which keeps getting better for journo stuff...) Which means I might have to get a new one, ugh

The fact there's no bait in the image at all? I am fooooming. (The hook works for trolling, though, but that's sooooo 2015)

This is me. FWIW, I have Teams open on my iPad under my monitor during press fortnight to handle interactions with the designer, and it's pretty effective...
