I'm not sure how Late Night with the Devil plays for folks less familiar with 70s nighttime variety shows, but I was charmed by its flawless evocation of that format. David Dastmalchian nails the host role. Intelligent script where characters fit archetypes but are still dramatically grounded.

I slept on The First Omen during its theatrical run, but caught via Disney+/Hulu. Knockout horror flick powered by a smart script and uniformly excellent performances. Some gruesome and memorable imagery tastefully doled out in brief glimpses. Very curious where director Arkasha Stevenson goes next.

Last Voyage of the Demeter is a completely solid Monster Movie -- a genre we get so few good instances of these days despite horror's current success. Game cast (esp Hawkins and Dastmalchian), wonderfully tactile production design, and a monstrous vampire whose creepiest moments aren't jump scares.

Dial of Destiny is legitimately fun! Ford and Waller-Bridge are excellent, and the film feels like it's made by creatives who both love Raiders and are smart enough to not remake it, instead giving us an older Indy who can still out-smart (and occasionally out-punch) the Nazis. Great ending, too.
