2301 - Starting Pitcher Preview - Part 1
Fantasy Baseball Live – February 15, 2025 – 12 noon Segments 1 – News and Notes 1.Hamate surgery has struck early and often, with three prominent players, Corbin Carroll, Francisco Lindor, and Jackson Holliday, going down in the first week of Spring Training. Each has already been downshifted in drafts. Too much, not enough, or just right? Also, should we draft their backup in drafts? a.Corbin Carroll – Moved from 8.08 to 13.20 b.Francisco Lindor – Move from 16.66 to 27.80 c.Jackson Holliday – Moved from 136.36 to 162.40 2.The Blue Jays and Astros exchange outfielders with the Astros receiving Joey Loperfido and the Blue Jays getting Jesus Sanchez a.Any uptick or downtick in playing time for either player? b.Are you interested? 3.In an ugly release the Phillies DFA Nick Castellanos. He can be signed for a minimum by anyone. a.There was a free-for-all article on the Athletic that was not very complimentary of Castellanos. He’s already been discounted for fantasy managers, going in the 26th round. 4.The Tigers sign Justin Verlander. He’s going as the 205 pitcher off the board. Where do you have him going after the trade? 5.Nathaniel Lowe signs a minor league deal with the Reds, putting pressure on Sal Stewart to hit out of spring training. a.What is the level of worry with this signing if you decide to draft Stewart? 6.Other random early injuries a.Shane Bieber will start the season on the IL to slowly build him up for the season. b.Jordan Westburg has an oblique injury with no timetable for a return Segment 2 – Pitcher Preview – We will go until time expires or we get tired and potentially, wrap it up next week. 1.How are you approaching this position for your upcoming drafts? 2.We will break down the top 60 in detail. Then, go through the next 30 in less detail. We will end by jumping around the remaining ranked players. 3.Which player not in the Top 15 has a chance to emerge there next season? 4.Which Top 15 player will not be there next season? 5.Give me a couple of sleepers 6.Give me one, maybe two guys you are just going to avoid drafting?

📣 New Podcast! "2300 - First Year Player Draft - Top 20 Players" on @Spreaker #baseball #fantasybaseball #milbexpert #mlbexpert #prospects
2300 - First Year Player Draft - Top 20 Players
The following players are discussed: 1. Ethan Holliday (SS, Col) - Advanced bat, plus hit tool, developing power, solid athlete 2. Kade Anderson (LHP, Sea) - Advanced command, polished pitch mix, competitive edge; mid‑rotation with strikeout upside. 3. Tatsuya Imai (RHP, Hou) - Undersized right-handed hitter with a lower three-quarters delivery. 97 to 99 MPH fastball that flattens out due to his arm swing. Plus slider. 4. Liam Doyle (LHP, STL) - Swing-and-miss lefty with a deceptive splitter. Could be a high-strikeout SP2 if he stays healthy. 5. Kazuma Okamoto (3B, Tor) - Older prospect who demonstrated plus power and a feel to hit in Japan. 6. JoJo Parker (SS, Tor) - Loud tools, clean health, and trending trajectory; potential middle-of-the-order bat. 7. Ike Irish (C, Bal) - Advanced hit tool, emerging power, and catcher eligibility. Impact upside with multi-category juice. 8. Eli Willits (SS, Was) - Speed/OBP shortstop, needs power to unlock fantasy value. 9. Aiva Arquette (SS, Mia) - Strong-bodied infielder with power upside and defensive versatility 10. Seth Hernandez (RHP, Pit) - 100 MPH fastball and starter traits. Long runway, but top-30 SP ceiling if it clicks. 11. Kyson Witherspoon (RHP, Bos) - Premium pitch traits, no pro debut yet. 12. Wehiwa Aloy (SS, Bal) - 2025 Golden Spikes winner with power, athleticism, and SEC pedigree. Could be a fantasy shortstop with pop. 13. Marek Houston (SS, Min) - High-floor bat with zone control and defensive value. 14. Dax Kilby (SS, NYY) - Strong debut with more speed than originally projected; power continues to be a question mark 15. Steele Hall (SS, Cin) - 80-speed and emerging power. Contact risk is real, but the tools are loud and fantasy-relevant. 16. Gavin Fien (SS, Was) - Advanced bat speed, strong plate discipline, above-average power, versatile defender. 17. Gavin Kilen (SS, SF) - High-contact lefty bat, 15+ HR upside, mature plate discipline 18. Billy Carlson (SS, CHW) - Bat-to-ball skills and defensive value. Power projection remains limited, but everyday role possible. 19. Slater De Brun (OF, TB) - A diminutive, toolsy outfielder with a great-looking swing. 20. Jamie Arnold (LHP, ATH) - He has a plus fastball-slider combination but his lower three-quarters delivery might work best in the bullpen.

2299 - Fantasy Questions of the AL West
Fantasy Baseball Live – February 8, 2026 @ 1 pm ET Segment 1 – News and Notes 1.The Reds sign Eugenio Suarez for a one-year, $15 million contract. He mostly played third base last season, but with future HOFer Ke’Bryan Hayes there, I guess he’ll be the full-time DH. a.Thoughts? b.In looking at their lineup, Spencer Steer or Sal Stewart is going to lose playing time. Steer is 28 and is one year removed from a 20-20 season, but with serious concerns about how much he’ll hit, and Sal Stewart is a rookie, although he looked great in his debut last season. How does this shake out? 2.The Red Sox sign Isiah Kiner-Falefa to a one-year, $6 million contract. Is this just depth or is this a message that Marcelo Mayer needs to hit? a.What happened to Kristian Campbell? 3.The Padres sign Miguel Andujar for $1.5 million, and in looking at their roster. Is he going to get enough at-bats at DH to make him a sneaky late-round grab? He’s an afterthought in drafts at an ADP of 601. 4.The Yankees re-sign Paul Goldschmidt, and in reading details of the signing, the Yankees were not the only suitor. He’s far from the player he was, but should I be worried that he could steal at-bats away from Ben Rice? a.If so, do you discount Rice at the draft table? 5.Finally, the Tigers had an eventful and expensive week. First they lost their arbitration hearing with Skubal, which cost of them $32 million and they signed Framber Valdez to a big three-year deal. a.I guess if there were worries about them moving Skubal, that appears to be unlikely. Thoughts on Tigers this season? Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the AL West The Athletics 1.Denzel Clarke looks like he will get the first shot at center field. Do you like Clarke or Colby Thomas to get the bulk of the at-bats? a.Does it even matter? 2.Outside of Nick Kurtz, which two Athletics are you most interested in rostering? 3.We now have data on the first year at Sutter Park in Sacremento and it ranked as the second best ballpark to hit in after Coors Field. a.Luis Severino had a 3.02 ERA away from Sutter and a whopping 6.01 ERA at home. I grabbed him in the 31st round of my NFBC Draft Champions League and was going to do the Home/Away game. Dumb idea? b.The ballpark factor does not bode well for young rookies like Luis Morales and Gage Jump. Thoughts? 4.Who gets the saves for A’s? 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Houston Astros 1.After a great spring training, Cam Smith wasn’t very good. In 134 games, he hit nine home runs and stole eight bases while hitting .236. In Spring Training, he hit .342 with four home runs and 15 games. a.Is this a reminder to ignore spring training stats? b.Also, do you see 2026 as a growth year for Smith? If so, could he become a 15+ home run guy with 10+ stolen bases? 2.Yordan Alvarez – Over/Under 400 at-bats? 3.Stat line for Tatsuya Imai – IP, K’s, ERA and wins – 165, 180K, 3.50 ERA, 10 wins 4.Christian Javier was a horse, and then 2024 came, and he had TJS. He struggled in his returns, but the fastball was back and the change-up was as good as ever. He doesn’t throw particularly hard, but his xERA was 3.36 last season. a.Any interest? 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Los Angeles Angels 1.Nolan Schanuel – Over/Under 15 home runs? a.Everyone thought he would hit, and while he makes great contact, his low hard-hit rate drives his BABIP down, and he hit .264 with a .263 xBA. How can you start this guy at first base? 2.After Zach Neto and Jo Adel, give me two players you are interested in drafting from the Angels and why. 3.Reid Detmers' stat line for 2026 – IP, Ks, ERA a.Detmers or Alek Manoah – who would you rather roster? 4.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Seattle Mariners 1.Cal Raleigh will hit closer to 40 home runs or 60 home runs in 2026. 2.Dominic Canzone or Victor Robles – Who would you rather roster and why? 3.Which one of Colt Emerson or Kade Anderson do we see in 2026? Or, do we see both? a.I know you’re not a big Emerson fan, but I think he’s going to be very good when he gets up – hint, I think we see him in the first half 4.I can’t think of a good pitching question – but, WOW, what a staff? 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Texas Rangers 1.Wyatt Langford – 2026 stat line – HR, SB, Runs, RBIs, and BA 2.It’s hard to say that Evan Carter is a bust, but so far, he’s been a disappointment. He’s still going as a number five outfielder – pick #71. Are you going to be one of those managers? 3.I don’t believe we talked about Josh Jung much last season or even when we did your third base rankings. He actually was somewhat healthy last season – 131 games, but hit 14 home runs and a SLG of .390. What happened? a.Is he of interest to you in upcoming drafts? 4.Are you ready to trust Jack Leiter? 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)

2297 - Outfield Preview - Part 1
Fantasy Baseball Live – February 1, 2026 – 3 pm ET Segment 1 – News and Notes 1.The Giants agree on a one year deal for Luis Arraez. While the adage that there is no bad deal, I’m not sure what this does for the Giants except block Casey Schmitt – but maybe he’s not much better. Is there anything here for fantasy managers? 2.The Giants also sign Harrison Bader. Any interest? 3.The White Sox sign Seranthony Dominguez. I know the White Sox have said that they will make Grant Taylor a multi-inning reliever, so I’m assuming Dominguez is the closer. How are you handicapping the closer situation in Chicago? a.Also, the White Sox sign Austin Hays which push Luisangel Acuna to a utility role. Thoughts? Segment 2 – Outfield Rankings for the 2026 Season 1.How are you approaching this position for your upcoming drafts? 2.We will break down the top 45 in detail. Then, go through the next 30 in less detail. 2295 - Fantasy Questions of the NL West - Dodgers, Padres and Giants
Fantasy Baseball Live – January 25, 2026 – 3:00pm Microsoft Teams Segment 1 – News and Notes 1.The Braves get bad news this week as Ha-Seong Kim suffered a hand injury and will miss at least the first half of the season. Are the Braves really going to battle with Mauricio Dubon at shortstop? a.If so, how much does his value increase? 2.The White Sox finally trade Luis Roberts – moving him to the Mets IF/OF Luisangel Acuna and RHP Truman Pauley a.The deal felt a little light for me, but maybe Roberts is more famous than good, posting a sub .300 OBP the last two seasons. He did steal 33 bases in 2025. i.Does this give him a new lease with a chance to produce the 38-20 season he did in 2023, or was that just an outlier? ii.Acuna is slated to start in center field and if true, I’m assuming his draft value goes up? 1.Stat line for 2026: AB, HR, SB, and BA iii.Let’s compare the Mets lineup to the Dodgers. 3.The Mets also acquired Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers from the Brewers for SS Jett Williams and RHP Brandon Sproat. a.WOW – huge trade as the Brewers once again move an ace pitcher with one more year of team control. However, unlike their 2024 deal to the Orioles for Corbin Burnes, they get two high-end prospects. Thoughts on the deal? b.Does Sproat start the season in the Brewers rotation? If not, when do you see him up? c.How long until Williams is in Milwaukee to either play shortstop or center field? 4.The Rangers acquired MacKenzie Gore for five prospects – SS Gavin Fein, RHP Alejandro Rosario, 1B Abimelec Ortiz, SS Devin Fitz-Gerald, and OF Yeremy Cabrera a.This one is a quantity deal for the Nationals as only Ortiz is near-ready for the big leagues. What do you think of the deal? Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the NL West Los Angeles Dodgers 1.Andy Pages is a divisive player coming into 2026. He looked pretty good during the season, but in the playoffs, he was awful. He’s the 29th outfielder off the board. Too high, too low, or just right? 2.Does Dalton Rushing get enough at-bats to be rostered in 2026? His ADP is 403 (27th round). 3.Hyesong Kim didn’t play much last season, but is penciled into the starting second base position entering the 2026 season. Over/Under 30 home runs/stolen bases in 2026? a.His ADP is 443 – 39th second baseman off the board. 4.One fallout of the Edwin Diaz signing is that Roki Sasaki will not start the season as the closer. He’s listed as the Dodgers' 6th starter. He’s the 79th pitcher off the board; let’s call it a Top 60 pitcher. Does that feel good to you? Too high, too low? a.We will look at other pitchers going around where his is going. 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) San Diego Padres 1.Jackson Merrill – 2026 stat line – AB, HR, SB, and BA 2.Ramon Laureano finally broke the stigma of not being able to hit right-handed pitching. He posted the same batting average against both arms and hit 15 of his 24 home runs against right-handed pitching. After the trade to San Diego, he kept on hitting – 9 home runs in the last two months. a.Are you buying this breakout? b.The NBFC really isn’t as he’s the 55th outfielder off the board. 3.I think I recall you willing to take a flyer on Sung Mun Song. Is that still your take? 4.Joe Musgrove will cost you an 18th-round pick. Are you interested? 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) San Francisco Giants 1.Bryce Eldridge is listed as the starting DH in San Francisco. Will this play out? a.Over/Under 400 ABs in 2026 2.Will Drew Gilbert get enough playing time to make a difference in 2026? 3.Luis Matos hit eight home runs in 57 games last season. He makes great contact with solid exit velocity and launch angle data. There’s even average speed? a.Is he a little undervalued with an ADP of 600? 4.Landen Roupp (417) or Kai-Wei Teng (627). Who would you rather draft in a Draft and Hold League? 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Close

2292 - Third Base Preview
Segment 1 – News and Notes 1.    The Dodgers made a splash by signing Kyle Tucker to the largest AAV in history – 4 years and $240 million with opt-outs after 2027 and 2028.8. a.    A lot of people are upset about the dominance of the Dodgers.  “They are ruining baseball!”  What say you? b.    Were you surprised that Tucker signed a shorter deal but for more money? c.    The odd thing is that he’s not even the best player on the team, maybe not even the top 3 players on the team. d.    I don’t see any playing time loss for anyone with the exception of a potential delay in the arrival of Josue DePaula or Zyhir Hope.  Do you see anything? 2.    The Mets were spurned by Tucker and pivoted to Bo Bichette, signing him to a massive three-year, $126 million deal with a unique opt-out clause.  He can opt out after each year, and if he does, the Mets have to pay him a $5 million bonus.  a.    $42 million a year for Bichette?  Thoughts on the signing? b.    He’ll likely play third base.  Who sits out of Baty or Vientos? c.    Also, I think Jett Williams needs to learn the outfield, plus, with the Mets not getting Tucker, Benge is still safe – for now.  Thoughts? 3.    A small but interesting, three-way trade was pulled off by the Angles, Rays and Reds.  The Rays sent Josh Lowe to the Angels and Gavin Lux to the Rays, with the Reds acting as the intermediary. The Angels shipped RHP Chris Clark to Tampa Bay and LHP Brock Burke to Cincinnati. a.    Who’s value goes up more?  Lowe, Lux, or neither? b.    Does this open a chance for Jacob Melton in Tampa? c.    Will Lux ever be more than an afterthought? Segment 2 – Third Base Rankings for the 2026 Season 1.    How are you approaching this position for your upcoming drafts? 2.    We will break down the top 15 to 20 in detail.  Then, go through 20 to 30 in less detail.  We will end by jumping around the remaining ranked players. 3.    Which player not in the Top 10 has a chance to emerge there next season? 4.    Which Top 10 player will not be there next season? 5.    Give me a couple of sleepers 6.    Give me one, maybe two guys you are just going to avoid drafting?

But, what is your take? i.Does Eddie Cabrera go up or down in your rankings or stay the same? ii.I’m assuming Caissie goes up, as he should get a chance to play. What’s your take? 2.The Cubs also make news, signing Alex Bregman to a long 5-year deal. This one has a lot of ramifications, as it was reported that the Red Sox really wanted to re-sign him. a.What happens to Matt Shaw? It’s been widely reported, and I’ve heard from my contact that the Cubs are not happy with Shaw. I’ve heard he’s difficult to work with, and the Cubs were not happy when he took a day off in September to attend the Charlie Kirk memorial. b.Who plays third for the Red Sox? Do they double down on signing Bo Bichette or go with some combination of Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell 3.The Rockies acquire Jake McCarthy on Saturday for RHP Josh Grosz a.I know it’s the Rockies, but does McCarthy get a jump in value? RosterResource lists him as the starting right fielder. b.It’s a bit of a bummer for Dynasty League owners waiting for Zac Veen and Sterlin Thompason to get a shot. It could even gum up the works for Cole Carrigg. Your thoughts? c.I saw Josh Grosz pitch with the Yankees last season in High-A. Fastball sat 93 to 94 MPH and was pretty flat with average secondaries. He does get a new lease with the Diamondbacks, but he’s not someone I’d be running out to grab in Dynasty Leagues. 4.My draft has slowed to a crawl. I’ll share some of my mid-round picks. 2285 - Fantasy Questions of the NL West - D-Backs and Rockies
Segment 1 – Fantasy Questions of the NL West – Diamondbacks and Rockies Arizona Diamondbacks 1.Geraldo Perdomo broke out in a big way in 2025 with 20 home runs, 27 stolen bases, and a .290 batting average. The data suggests being wary of repeats in power and speed. What do you say? 2.Jordan Lawlar – AB, HR, SB, and BA 3.Are the Diamondbacks going to go to war with Alek Thomas in center field and Blaze Alexander in left field? If so, do you have any interest in either? 4.I’ve got Brandon Pfaadt wrong, as I thought he would be more than a 5.25 ERA pitcher. Any hope, or should I just move on? 5.How many waiver wire articles will Kevin Ginkle make this year? – Over/Under - 2 6.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Colorado Rockies 1.Brenton Doyle – HR, SB, and BA for 2026 a.He’s going as the 37th outfielder off the board. We will look around to see if it’s too high or too low. 2.Kyle Karros (574), Zac Veen (494) and Adael Amador (590). a.According to RosterResource, they all will start the year with a job. Order them in how you would draft them. Do you have any real interest in any of them? 3.Victor Vodnik has the Closer gig, I think. Uhh…you interested? 4.How many wins do the Rockies get in 2026 – they were 43-119 in 2025 5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors) Segment 2 – News and Notes 1.The Athletics trade for Jeff McNeil, with the Mets receiving Yordan Rodriguez. a.a. The Mets pay 5.75 million of McNeil’s contract, and it appears he will slot in at second base. Any interest? Would you have rather seen Darrel Hernaiz get some at-bats? b.b. Yordan Rodriguez is a young 17-year-old RHP with a fastball that can touch the mid-90s. 2.The Marlins sign Pete Fairbanks a.The Marlins needed a closer and signed Fairbanks. I guess they think they can compete. What say you? 3.The Pirates sign Ryan O’Hearn a.The Pirates are continuing to get better, maybe marginally, but this feels like what the Royals did two years ago when they signed several mid-level Major Leaguers and did ok. Your thoughts?
