The trial court’s opinion in the Texas Ten Commandments case (which, given the precedents, probably reaches the result a trial judge should reach) is the most bizarre, rhetorically irresponsible, and injudicious opinion I can recall:

Oh, I get those (or things like them) too. But this place is no better.

Also (and maybe we just disagree), I don’t think there’s any problem with a political community saying “you can’t throw things at cops”, and punishing people who do. (If the throwing is morally warranted, so it goes.)
