If you scoff at the idea that Trump will take over Venezuela or invade Cuba and Greenland

Maybe you can explain why he proposed increasing the military budget from about $900 billion

To a whopping $1.5 trillion

Especially when he’s repeatedly bragged how he “totally rebuilt” the military already

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

Sigh

Can someone explain to me why the NYT reports this as though they do not have the ability to watch the video of Good being murdered?

She was trying to kill the agents??? They just print it as if it has any basis in reality.

“Give me your ID or you will be shot and killed” - ICE officers and GOP meat riders.

This is Renee Good.

She was a mother of a six-year-old child.

She was an American citizen.

She described herself as a “poet and writer and wife and mom and shitty guitar strummer from Colorado.”

And she was gunned down in cold blood and broad daylight by Trump’s ICE agents.

This is an excellent sound bite and policy.

One of the more odious relics of the Obama administration.
I have nothing but contempt for this kind of thinking or political advocacy; anyone who joins this man's campaign is taking up with the opposition.

He waves no battle standard, his white flag is ironed, clean, unimprovised, and ready to be unfurled.

This is the kind of insanity we’ve chosen by centering modern society on petroleum.

Imagine a world powered by renewable energy. No wars for oil. No tankers to seize.

The way his cult members adopt his demented blatherings and shabbily attempt to restate them with less insane language. It’s a ritual. A public display of fealty. A requirement of MAGA politicos and wannabes. 🤮
Ogles: "It's important that we have a stake in Greenland, that they are quite frankly a protectorate of the US. They've been in relationship with Denmark - that needs to end. We've spilled more blood protecting Greenland than the Danes... we are the dominant predator force in the Western Hemisphere"

I am pleased to announce that I have commandeered my neighbor's home. This home will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, to ensure it is used to benefit my neighbor and me! Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Tesla 2025 sales declined massively in Europe. Down 27,8% YoY. I find the Germany decline especially amusing, since Musk invested so heavily in a huge factory there.

The brand isn’t quite dead, but hard to see any path of growth ahead.

Great news. Imagine if we had an effective opposition leadership.
With the retirement of Marjorie Taylor Greene, and the passing of LaMalfa, it looks like the GOP no longer holds a working majority until his seat is filled. It’s at 217. They need 218 for a majority.
January 6, 2026 at 5:35 PM
Seems to me that Tesla’s focus on just two core (aging) products and musk’s extremist political activities have proven to destroy the sales of a company that once dominated its market.

Buyers want choice. And they don’t want their car purchase to imply support of RW extremists.

“Limit the first amendment to protect it.” Could hardly be more perfectly Orwellian. And the total lack of response from the cable anchors is perfectly trumpian. Dark.
This guy, an Israeli billionaire, believes it’s time to “limit the First Amendment in order to protect it.” He believes the government should control social media and everything that is posted.

Hard to be mad that a mayor’s wife has $600 boots she paid for when the president is a crypto billionaire who got a $400M plane as a “gift” that he didn’t pay for.

Hardly new or surprising at this point, but it's still so crazy how the US president goes to bat for Russia, aping the Russian government's propaganda, lying to the world on a Russian dictator's behalf, and trying to help Russian military aggression succeed against a US-partnered European democracy.
Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

Good to hear BUT crazy that this is a huge sea-change. Cars — the most crucial HMI on earth — using touch screens for mission critical, safety impacting controls and settings is one of the dumbest developments of all time.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

As anyone capable of logic predicted, the mindless “shoot yourself in the foot” anti-immigrant ICE raids have ground Texas construction industry to a halt. A horrible development for housing and economic outlook. Congratulations, you played yourself.
