There were a few bassists. The one to our left is probably Jorge Roeder (we were the two jazz bassists), and then to our right is the classical double bass section. I think this instrumentation is based on Schuller's work with Joe Lovano, on the "Rush Hour" album.

He really was!. Although he had a reputation for being a bit rough on the musicians, he was nothing but pleasant with me. And encouraging!
