Hegseth and probably some smarter people are separating these military leaders from their sources of power, their units. I fear that many will be fired and released from the military and replaced by Trump loyalists.

I did marketing for a small AI consulting company for a year about 15 years ago and had to learn what it was and its uses. I think various AI techniques will continue to find use in applications in limited domains, and tend to agree with you about the fantasy behind the massive investments today.

Nah. Just read Andy Borowitz's "Profiles in Ignorance". The way we're going, there won't be any smart Americans left in 5 years. We'll have no choice but AI by default.

Just visited the Hague in the Netherlands. A model of high density housing that works well with a dense network of bike lanes, trams, buses, trains, & metro. There's hardly a large car park there taking up space, yet they have a real city forest. Palo Alto isn't serious about the environment, is it?

My guess is he felt unwell or tired & wanted time off without admitting he doesn't have the stamina anymore. If right, expect someone leaking it out. Must be a valet, secret service agent, maid etc who talks if all he did for four days was stay in bed or watch TV or practice putting in his bedroom.

The thing that strikes me hardest is the number of women who helped Epstein. He had about 4 adult women assistants, plus numerous young victims who recruited others for pay.
