The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it.
That’s obviously the big dilemma. The only thing you can do is try to make yourself more effective with these tools. And not everything in the world has been digitized. There’s a lot of problems to solve. It’s still going to require architecture/design/taste.

Obviously, they shouldn’t pursue an unhelpful process. I just think there’s a lot of usage of these tools that devs won’t disclose because of the backlash they’re going to receive. Some of the AI slop is horrendous, and so are some of the faces of these technologies. I can’t deny that.

It’s not about meetings. Every game isn’t a 100% artistic endeavor. Devs do their best to make something meaningful, but let’s not kid ourselves. It’s a job. If they can automate parts of it, they will.

Or your time is better spent on something more valuable. Devs are humans at the end of the day. All these purity tests are just people shitting on them. Invalidating their effort.

I just wanted to talk to you cuz it’s fun lol. Everything you believe is valid. I don’t want it to be taken away from you. I just think there’s multiple ways to be creative. Sometimes there’s constraints on people, time pressure, market forces, whatever. People still find a way to do their best.

My experience as a dev. Not game dev. It’s crazy to see how differently devs talk about llms vs the general public. It freaks us out too. But so much has changed in just a year. The models have gotten a magnitude cheaper/more efficient/ more useful. The bubble might pop, but llms aren’t going away.

I want to see beautiful meaningful art. But these are jobs too. Filled with boring ass meetings. Ai is prob in the workflows of every studio unless explicitly stated. Not just asset generation but large chunks of the game code. There’s just so much repetitive boilerplate that isn’t creative work.

Can’t people be inspired by their life experiences? Do you go into every project as an empty shell? People are extremely complicated. I don’t need them to drop acid in a forest to be creative. I’m not going to judge how they make art. Obviously, it’s your right to reject the meal.

Your vibes are mostly right. But Microsoft’s new strategy with games mirrors their push to put all the office apps everywhere. It’s boring but most of their gaming cash cows are cross platform games/mobile games. COD/COD mobile, Minecraft, candy crush. Exclusives failed, so it’s just a 3rd party now

From the press release: “The lower strap features flexible fabric ribs embedded with tungsten inserts that provide a counterweight for additional comfort, balance, and stability.”

It would be cool if we could get links in the premium feed posts to the YouTube videos you make private/delist. I enjoy queuing up videos on YouTube via playlists. @janochoa.bsky.social

Yeah, I just rmr when it happened, and they instantly became a 2 trillion dollar company, which was wild. And then Apple passed them, which was even crazier to me.

@janochoa.bsky.social makes him cooler tbh. I had to re-evaluate.
