In December 2024, the Commander of the Estonian Defence Force stated that there was no need for the country to leave the Ottawa Convention and that there are effective alternatives to the use of landmines. I was impressed by President Zelenskyy’s speech in Munich. He has remained one of the last leaders speaking about international law. However, his speech reminds me of the appeals of Ethiopia at the League of Nations about the Italian invasion of their country.
