The new #ruby website is quite pretty, tho I miss the big claim of "what ruby is" from the old one.
I don't get why it requires JavaScript to load (and I see a loader) since it's static but I guess we lost that battle years ago.

Also, the reply integration seems odd: either you are showing […]

Huh, apparently you can write Ruby native modules in Go 🤔 they're adding some built-in support for this to rubygems now github.com/ruby-go-gem/... #ruby #rubylang

I remember my first and last trip to Georgia, a decade ago or so, when it seemed the country was heading straight for progress, liberal democracy, economic wellbeing and EU accession.
And now we're here

European Commission To Suspend Visa-Free Travel For Georgian Diplomats
The European Commission said it will suspend visa liberalization for Georgian diplomatic passport holders as new EU rules enter into force at the end of the month.

TIL the english word "odium" exists.
It's a fantastic word.
The fact that it's a cognate of the Italian "odio" notwithstanding.

I think today's #Wordle may be the hardest *well known* word we ever had.
I gave up brute forcing and checked dictfile: one possibility left after 4 attempt.
And dictfile doesn't even have "yourt".
I surrendered and just looked it up.

some years ago I decided to try out asdf as a generic "package" manager.
It's been years and I still can't remember how to use it.
I guess 2026 is the year I should try switching to mise.

I remember a long time ago trying to start some Gtk apps from the command line and seeing a ton of assertion failures and warnings.

Today I ran a gtk app for the first time in a long time and... yes, assertion failures and warnings.

a 45 anni finalmente ho avuto l'esperienza di una donna che mi scrive sullo specchio, ma non era "ti amo" né "benvenuto nell'aids" era "mettete a posto i vestiti".
Ha funzionato, comunque.

The impact XKCD has had on internet culture cannot be overstated.

Today I saw at least 2 references to "today's 10000" which is not even the most popular comic, and not a week goes by without the "one guy in nebraska" appearing, or "someone is wrong on the internet".

I'm happy about this.

when I had a slow computer one of the fun things you could do was install ImageMagick through Macports.
IM appears to depend on every other technology that has ever been created so this would take a loooong time.
Macports supports binaries now, and my computer is faster anyway so this is better […]

today I discovered that the famous Amazon review of "A New Kind of Science" by Stephen Wolfram is no longer visible on the website.
Luckily for us, it's on the internet archive

wanna see something weird? I found a screencast I made (swf!) in 2007.

I think it was a demo of my google Summer of Code project (a tool that would generate an automatic admin UX for a defunct web app framework for #ruby called nitro)

The oddity is that I’m pretty sure I did the GSoC in 2006 […]

pretty nice, the
@activitypub.blog plugin for #wordpress now supports quotes.

If you have a WP blog/site, you should enable the plugin immediately, it works like a charm and it's a way to broaden your audience and get conversations started.

yeah I skipped two days cause I couldn't get part 2 working. I'll get back to them later maybe.

Today is the first use of lifetimes, which seems necessary, but I'm not sure it really is.
Interesting bit: you can' use a HashSet as key of a Hash;ap (it does not […]

I spent an inordinate amount of time on part1 because
* imo the problem definition is wrong
* it does matter if you put permutations or combinations in the list, even if you filter them out :(

Part 2 is basically the same and I already did it in ruby so I'm not […]
