Drawing pictures. The Black Country
Ow Am Ya? 🔴
I really hope for our neighbouring Brummies that their council SORT THIS out soon. I passed through some of the streets there recently visiting pals and it really is shocking when you actually see it in person.

The Gareth Southgate lecture on how we should enable our youngsters to engage more in real activities & less in online activities is one of the most eloquent ways of describing the problem & prescribing the solution. I hope more folk like Gareth stand up to be counted. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Saw this recently:
55 senior managers / chief officers earn combined total of £5.5 million per yr, many £100k plus.
Whilst 150 regular bin collectors had pay cut of £8k per yr (cut of £1.2 million per yr).
Not sure on source, BUT If correct, perhaps ‘pay problem’ is not the refuse collectors.

One time it seemed all pub dogs lived on the pub roof, and also dogs freely roaming the streets in the day leaving little white deposits on the pavements. The white colour? It was the calcium in the food at the time, if you ever wondered.

At a glance you could be forgiven in thinking that ‘Plaza Mall’ in Dudley is the name of a cafe, given the sign and facade and that it just says cafe, but inside there’s an ace little hive of stalls and businesses.

This piece ‘Toys Am We’ (59 cm x 84 cm painting on wood panel) pays homage to the ‘Arcade Toy Shop’, it was in Dudley for nearly a hundred years & gave countless kids fond memories of going in the shop as strong as the memories of the toys.

The Black Country dialect is one of few that is rooted from early modern English.
Seeing articles like this just makes me even prouder not only of the Black Country accent, but that we’re a nation of a patchwork of dialects, and not just some grey monotone. 💪👄🇬🇧

‘Corner Shop Wall Cup Final’.
Celebrating playing footie after school on make do pitches. Tricky agreeing if it had hit the post or not especially when there is a lot at stake, a derby final, bragging rights for a week and a Curly Wurly.
Paint on wood panel.

Sarnies With ‘MarMate’
Saturday teatime treat. Sandwiches in front of the telly at Nan and Grandads whilst everyone ate their tea in the kitchen, everyone apart from Kez their dog who really loved watching The A-Team. Or, really loved marmite.

For some old dogs, they don’t need to be taught new tricks, they’ve got all the trick (shots) they need.

Inspired by a time when after many months playing pool in a pub, one of the old regulars asked for a game.
Said he’d not played for a while so might be a bit rusty… 🎱

‘Down The Road’ is a series of paintings. First up is ‘Elaine’s’, it was a shop down the road from my Nans, and as my Nan would say, it sold everything under the sun.

🥶Brrrrr! It’s so blustery and cold thought I’d post art from Sunnier times, hopefully it’ll help warm the cockles.

‘The 297’
Awoken from a post-sunday dinner snooze in the garden by the rattle of a diesel engine and plinky plonk version of Yankee Doodle Dandy. This Dad dutifully gets the round in.
