The Rights of Every Child initiative brings awareness to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child through art and advocacy.
Rights of Every Child on Instagram: "We adapted part of article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to: “Every child has a right to clean water.” Here is that part of it in full: ...(c) To combat disease and malnutrition, including within the framework of primary health care, through, inter alia, the application of readily available technology and through the provision of adequate nutritious foods and clean drinking-water, taking into consideration the dangers and risks of environmental pollution;... and @mb__carvalho ‘s art and reflection: “I come from the northeast of Brazil, a place where water holds immense power, both symbolic and material. In 2023, 14 million people in the region still didn’t have access to clean water. This lack of access impacts poor and black families the most, with children being particularly affected. With this illustration, I wanted to honour my home and its struggles, while still celebrating the joys and colour that this basic right can bring to a child’s life.”"

Rights of Every Child on Instagram: "We’ve distilled UNCRC Article 23 to: “Every child has a right to medical care, community, and dignity when disabled.” Here is the first part of it in full with artwork and words from @lilly.taing who is an artist and pediatrician: “I hope [this] serves as a call for all of us to think critically about how we as a society continue to fail children, especially those who are medically fragile...” UNCRC ARTICLE 23 1. States Parties recognize that a mentally or physically disabled child should enjoy a full and decent life, in conditions which ensure dignity, promote self-reliance and facilitate the child’s active participation in the community..."

Rights of Every Child on Instagram: "We had our very first Rights of Every Child virtual workshop with students in Turkey! A few 4th grade English and art classes are studying children’s rights and invited me to present and chat with them about the history of the UNCRC and rights and our project as inspiration for them to create their own art, following in the steps of the illustrators in our community!! The students were engaged, shared illuminating insights, and then created incredibly thoughtful artwork! All of it will be on our website soon, but here are a few to share here! Thank you to wonderful Berna ASLAN, the teacher who organized this and to the other educators: Annalise Nazlıca, Emily Blessinger, and Sarah Clarkson Spoors. And the kids!! What an honor to to have a space where kids can learn about rights, PARTICIPATE in them, and create with their own self-expression to carry the rights of every child forward! 🖍️⚽️🌈"

Rights of Every Child on Instagram: "About the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and how we advocate around it via art with this project. The treaty contains 54 articles adhering to 4 general principles: • The right to life, survival, and development. • Equality and non-discrimination. • The right to be heard and to participate. The best interests of the child. All UN member countries have signed it. All have also ratified it except one: the US. What we do at @rightsofeverychild ? We gather and distill the UNCRC articles into simple rights. Each children’s book artist chooses one that speaks to them, that inspires them to create a piece to convey it in their own style, medium, and distinctly beautiful perspective. We share it here, our site, and our newsletter! And there are more ways we’re gearing up to spread the word soon, so I hope you’ll stay tuned."
