We had a lovely stroller that we sold to another family that posted videos and photos of it and then they sold it and the same and it’s on its fourth family now and I’m still getting photos and videos of a stroller that’s almost twenty years old and apparently worth all the money we paid for it!

That is an excellent point that my own white privileged self didn’t see, even when my own grandma was send to Indian boarding school. Whew, I’ve got to step back and check how my privilege is impacting even the statements that seem smaller than they are.

White schools were good until they were defunded BECAUSE desegregation was forced on the white community.

At that time and place. And let’s not even talk about how I was 5’10” and 160 lbs and was being harassed for how fat I was all the time and how that has become lifelong body image issues.

But sure. Daria and Lilith faire and Murphy Brown were all signs it was a feminist paradise

also not a teacher but Why We Can’t Wait is probably the most important book I’ve ever read and completely transformed the mission of my work in the public and non profit sectors.

Sometimes people get benefit from privilege and they forget who they are and who their people are. While she is still a Black trans woman, she has immense privilege in that community as a whole. It seems to have made her out of touch overall.

One of the best things about Rutherford falls was that it wasn’t Lakota or Navajo, which seem to be the most commonly represented. It also included native characters who had phenotypes all over the board

I work in municipal government and one thing I’ve learned is that government work is an actual speciality and we need people with experience in elected positions. Nobody should think they are qualified for an executive official position without experience at lower levels of government.

I’ve been screaming since 2016 that democrats have got to do the work of investing in their base and expanding it. Invest in communities of color, grow initiatives to register Black and Indigenous voters.
