The trail cam has been broken recently but thanks to the recent snowfall I've still been able to see a trace of the critters.

I also got this cute close up of our resident fox trying and failing to crack open a walnut.

However, tonight I was surprised to find that two martens had come to visit! Our usual specimen in the front and a new one in the back, clearly a little reluctant to dig in. I think this might be their mate and they're showing them their favorite places to get food.

There's a beech marten that shows up with some regularity at night. We think it probably lives in a neighbor's attic or cellar as beech martens often do, earning them the alternative name house martens.

Most rooks are stationary but the populations at the northern edge of their range in Denmark tend to migrate south in the winter. I haven't seen them again since, so they were probably just passing through and are now spending their time in less frigid latitudes.

Usually the only corvids that show up to get some food are crows and magpies along with the occasional jay. But there was one day earlier this month where a rook came and ate some peanuts. That day I also saw a flock of them on a field not too far away.

There's a European green woodpecker that's been showing up lately. It doesn't eat any of the bird food I put out - it only eats ants - so getting the occasional video of it is just coincidence. It's pretty cool to get a good look at one though since they're usually quite shy.

I finally got this fox on camera again! It's been almost a month since I first saw them, on the very first night I ever had the camera set up.

been really loving shakshuka recently. It's just eggs poached in tomato sauce but you can customize it alot. my usual method is caramalizing onions & carrots, adding tomatoes & beans and then putting the eggs in little wells and browning everything a bit under the broiler with some bloches of cheese
