I didn't see any future fantasy pitching of note. Wikelman Gonzalez looks the part of bulk reliever, possibly an opener vs. RH heavy lineups. Dunning is where he belongs, and we know what he is (bulk/emergency starter). He dazzled a bad lineup (aside from Teel) with command of a 4 pitch arsenal.

Blaine Crim is another guy who I see trending up that I'm not excited about. He fits a profile of good-numbers/poor athlete 1B-only defender that some people in dynasties love. All I could see as I watched him was Luke Voit, right down to the unbuttoned jersey. Think short-side platoon DH.

I don't think his glove can work at SS either. He missed a couple plays that a MLB SS makes pretty easily, plus a bad decision cost an out. I do think he'll be an excellent 3B. For comp purposes, maybe 2021 Eugenio Suarez, less HR, more SB who can really defend at 3B? Probably not a fantasy asset.

I am out on Colson Montgomery. He stroked a double into the RF corner in the game, but that was not until after Dunning left. Dunning made him look bad by peppering offspeed in the zone. His swings were not close. His 2B was off a RP who was throwing 1 pitch who gave up 5 runs with 2 outs.

Kyle Teel can hit. The rest of the Knights struggled against Dunning's blah pitch mix, Teel smoked a ball that short-hopped Round Rock's 1B and deflected weakly to the pitcher. Defender had no chance even playing 3-4 steps behind the bag. Teel worked a walk in a competitive AB.

Really loud. Pretty easily the hardest hit ball off Oppor. Wolkow did a good job tracking back and making a difficult catch against the wall look very easy. He plays a nice CF. His offense is a problem that I'm not sure he can solve. He must have whiffed at 7-8 pitches in the zone yesterday.

Unfortunately he left after finishing the second inning and was holding his right arm in a way that looked like an injury. It looked like he was doing his best to keep it immobile as he walked to the clubhouse. Hopefully it's just a precautionary measure because he looked great.

Meccage was overpowering for two innings. 97-99 on his fastball and Kannapolis couldn't touch it. He was having some troubles with his breaking ball. He was trying to backdoor it to lefties and left it in the RH batter's box often, though it was better in the 2nd.

Oppor looked really solid. 95 on his fastball, mid-low 80's on his offspeed pitches. Looked like fastballs and back-foot sliders for the most part. A couple of changes mixed in, though it was hard to tell from my seat. For the most part only Made and Pena got good swings off him. I like him.

I'm not sure Luis Pena is going to have a ton of power but he is a really good hitter. Very smooth at 3B, plenty of arm on the only ball hit to him. Unlike Payne, he got the barrel both high and low, inside and outside in this game. Payne hits the ball harder, but Pena is a better hitter right now.

Jesus Made had great AB's every single appearance. He has a good idea at the plate and seems to identify pitches well. He also made a nice basket catch in shallow left-center when Payne and Lameda couldn't get there. Looks like a SS. Took Oppor to the CF wall for a long flyout, singled and walked.

I am easing off on Braylon Payne. I'm no mechanics expert but his swing looks similar to Garrett Mitchell, and he had a hard time with pitches on the outer half. I didn't see much ability to manipulate the barrel yet. Same plane every pitch location. Best athlete on a team of great athletes.

If it gets him back before opening day I'll donate one of mine. Maybe both if he needs a spare. I'm barely using them.

6.26- Hunter Greene
7.5 - Tanner Bibee
8.26 - Luis Garcia Jr.
9.5 - Dylan Crews
10.26 - Pete Fairbanks
11.5 - Dansby Swanson

I was feeling OK at this time yesterday, then the Cole news broke and now I'm down on it again.

He's clearly still got his stuff. I'm just concerned about his huge innings jump coming off an injury and low innings in '19-'22. Pitchers that frequently throw near their max velocity (which he also does) have shown a higher tendency for injury. I am avoiding him at current cost. Hope I'm wrong.
