I have long believed this. Putin never forgfot the humiliation of the collapse of the USSR and the American victory lap. He planned and played a long game, and knew that the stupidity of the bulk of the US population was the key to victory. US democracy utterly destroyed, no shots fired.

There is one thing we have decided that you can't do even if you are a billionaire, and that is sexually exploit kids, and apparently, that one fucking constraint is too much for them to handle. So, they will tear down our democracy, unique in the world, just to have the utter impunity they crave.

Our institutions have failed us, our business leaders (Bezos etc.) have shown that all they really care about is making as much money as possible (remeber those funny ads they used to run about valuing diversity and the environment?), Congress no longer exists, we the people are all that is left.
