Jiang Cheng isn't a super abusive PoS, nor is he really a Good Man (/uncle). He's a hurt, scared, flawed character who loves very hard but allows his pain and sense of entitlement to rule his life rather than let things go; resulting in actions that push away people who love him. That's his tragedy.

Sorry did they miss the part where MAGA HATE science and are happy that scientific programmes are being dismantled. Like even if that weren't the case this would still be a stupid argument but it's not even accurate. It's like throwing your friend under a bus whilst someone drives a train into you.
