Current status of the thesis.
Oh shit, I might actually get this done! #phd

Oh completely. Lifestyle, the type of food that is available (and affordable) - lots of things working against us as a species.

Been hearing this about a number of humanities subjects since the 90s when I started uni and it is SO boring and SO wrong.

injections - that some people may see it as a quick fix. I have people tell me that my surgery was a "short cut" but what they don't realise is this is a complete lifestyle change - for the rest of my life and is very strict.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. :)

reasons for my overeating and learned about proper nutrition and all that. It's all well and good to have a surgery or do an injection, but there's a lot more to it than that, and the risk of "relapse" if that prep isn't extensive is quite high. That is one thing that worries me a bit about the

Oh also (and I promise I will stop babbling about this soon), but the main reason for my success was not the surgery itself, it was the preparation I had beforehand. I went through a 2 year program before I was even referred to a surgical team - dieticians, psychologists, etc. I worked on the

Oh completely, and we run the risk of heading towards how it is in the US which is, frankly, terrifying. The more the NHS loses money and people start going for quicker options and private, the more drug companies will become aggressive and we'll see potential harm.

Also totally agree with this. I had been fluctuating between obese and overweight my whole life and had a number of things in my way to sort it out "naturally" - I have MS, I am peri menopausal, etc. Each body is different and some just need more help than others. 👏 Which.👏 Is.👏 Fine.👏

These surgeries and medication options ARE life changing, and should be embraced. I have seen other comments on this thread about the aggressive marketing, and agree that needs to be checked and completely reigned in, as there is potential for harm.

It's the same kind of negativity against people who have had weight loss surgery. I had a gastric sleeve over 18 months ago and have lost around 60kg. It changed my life and I am so grateful I was able to do it and get my health back on track.
Also, weedy nerds rule!

I needed this today, it's tough right now and I considered quitting the whole thing the other day. I then got a lovely message from my PhD supervisor which helped a lot. This has reminded me of that and that I can keep going, thank you.

You won’t remember most of the papers you read.
However, you’ll remember who made you feel like you could keep going.

Circular hypocaust system on display at the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, showing a partially reconstructed Roman underfloor heating structure. The floor tiles are supported by evenly spaced stacks of round ceramic discs (pilae), revealing the open space beneath where hot air would circulate to warm the room above. The surrounding area includes excavated earth and remnants of the original flooring.

İstanbul. Seni çok seviyorum.

Several passenger ferries and boats are docked along the waterfront, and the cityscape is filled with a mix of Ottoman and modern architecture under a clear blue sky.
