The mountains seems oddly near today. Felt I could just turn my bike west and pedal a few minutes to "climb the mountains and get their good tidings" (John Muir)

I can do swan today. We walked the Bow River looking for the overwintering Trumpeter Swans and eventually realised those snow lumps across the river were actually swans. Over the past 5-10 years we have gone from 1 or 2 wintering here to closer to 50.

Weird number of flocks of pine siskins over the Kootenay Pass, too many and too stupid to avoid all.
On the bright side, the crows and ravens were well fed.

Tried to get a photo of this hawk on a fence post, but it decided to take off. And now I know that rough legged hawks hover like ospreys

Was hoping my new helmet with visor wouldn't fog/frost up the way my goggles did but still fogging.
The visor is easier to get out of the way to allow defogging or to simply see thru just 1 frosted layer though.
And I love the front and back lights!

If they were serious about trying to entice new teachers to northern communities, wouldn't the application period be greater than 5 and a half weeks? #able #abed
