Thank you for voicing some of these thoughts. I'm party to the lawsuit as well and it pains me to think that writing that came at the cost of my mental health is enriching venture capitalists.

I grew up a @clebrowns.bsky.social fan during the Kosar era and was heartbroken when they left for Baltimore. Plundering taxpayer funds for $600 million while our state libraries are defunded and our public schools can't bus students is worse than anything Art Modell did.

💛 Looking back, I was still finding my way as an educator when I taught those courses and worried that I learned more than you did. I'm working on taking the lessons from the "new" western history and applying them to the Midwest.

My dissertation (and first book) did examine the creation of SOME of their infrastructure as a by-product of the growing petroleum industry during the Gilded Age. Particularly, the culverting of the Kingsbury and Walworth Runs, the creation of the lake crib, and the necessity of water treatment.
