Amazon doesn’t have the juice for this. Even if you give your workers an extra piss bottle to try to squeeze a couple extra deliveries. They’ve relied on USPS for a reason. Sorry, Jeff.

so much of this would be such excellent (fictional) bleak comedy. I’d say it would’ve been good satire too (until recently obv), but it’s too on the nose for that particular thing.

It seems like the more recent cinematic conventions of mainly showing fascisms as austere evil kind of hide the reality they are always also ostentatious, delusional, grotesque clown shows. I guess the embarrassment gets overshadowed by the atrocities, so kinda understandable.

A human mind is a flexible thing and when presented frequently enough with that which should viscerally horrify and disturb, if we moralize it, we will inevitably ritualize and venerate the act of consuming the horrifying and disturbing.

It is inherently, arguably necessarily dehumanizing.

It creates a kind of base, animal bloodlust that does not, as it does in the minds of the participant, elevate them outside and above the chaff of their former peers, but ejects them from participation in humanity.

I kind of suspect a similar phenomenon happens for regular exposure to (vs eager consumption of) constant unnecessary / contingent / surplus suffering. Sadism may appear as a shelter from the storm. A feedback loop gets reinforced when ppl succumb / indulge.
