I use russet potatoes.
I’ve never made it without the turner, corrugated rolling pin, pastry cloth and board, and lefse griddle, but I’m guessing it’s possible.
Other hints:
If you have never done it, it takes some practice.
I eat more of my “ooops” than the nice ones.
