They can slow down the daily workings of congress, especially in the senate. For instance, one senator can deny unanimous consent and force a full vote on anything. Something that takes seconds becomes a major holdup. The idea is to resist and disrupt enough that you get concessions. There’s more.

Ok, so Grandpa Trump folded on the invasion of Greenland. Senator, can you shift your focus on the tyranny that is growing at home? Make a strong statement on ICE funding. No more new appropriations. Zero, nada, no more funding for DHS!!

So exactly what have you done IN the senate to defeat authoritarianism? I see the people of Minnesota resisting by disrupting ICE operations there at great personal cost. What have YOU done to resist and disrupt the workings of the Senate. Nothing as far as I can see. Please show me that I’m wrong.

I call BS! Brian, next time you have a senator on ask them whether they are doing anything to make life uncomfortable for their feckless republican “colleagues”. There are ways a minority can get concessions by grinding daily business to a near halt. Denying unanimous consent is just one. Look it up

“what, precisely, do you want her to do?” For starters, she could make daily life in the Senate very tedious. Look up when one senator denies unanimous consent. A motion to submit a document into the record that normally takes seconds turns into hours. And there is more! Slow the damn machine down!

Will you definitively state you will not support any new appropriations bill for ICE? If not, then perhaps stop stating what we all know. I’m a Vermonter. I stand with Ukraine and now Minneapolis! Get the thugs out of both.

It seems to be a pattern with him. He didn’t get the votes in Minnesota so he started one there too, in Minneapolis! Can you please say publicly you will not support any new appropriations for ICE and DHS in general?

Yep, seems it is time to stop playing nice, nice with your republican colleagues. Use the power of the minority to slow the machine down before it grinds democracy, and us, to dust. Deny unanimous consent, that will irk them. Or maybe call for recorded votes. Abnormal times demand abnormal tactics.

It doesn’t send thugs to terrorize its population either. Can you make a firm statement that you will vote no on any appropriation bill that supports ICE and CBP without meaningful reform?
January 16, 2026 at 11:08 PM
Gee, that ‘s just dandy. How about a conversation about the invasion of Minneapolis? Have you used any of the procedures available to the minority that would make the daily work of the Senate slow and uncomfortable for your feckless Republican colleagues? Deny unanimous consent for starters.

Sad but true. Take, for instance, the people of Minneapolis. Their city invaded by thousands of federal agents, who outnumber the police 3 to 1. People being assaulted and now killed for asserting their rights. Senator, please stop doing business as usual. Resist, disrupt. Freedom is slipping away.

Thank you Rep Balint! I am glad to see at least one member of our congressional delegation has the courage to speak out and take action against ICE lawlessness.

Do more! Deny unanimous consent; no voice votes; force the bill to be read out loud! Gum up the works and do whatever you can to grind the institution to a halt! That ‘s resistance!!!
