Which always seems to end up being a honeypot for them to debate you, be hostile, say that their hostility is fine, actually, and that your opinion is wrong.

But now it feels way too toxic to reach out and try and meet in the middle somehow. I’d love to have a genuine discussion, a retrospective if you will and a meeting in the middle.

And I’m reading similar things from their side. They’ve felt ostracised for using the wrong words. Some CoCs went so far as to remove people from projects for having the “wrong” opinions. It makes me sad. I don’t want that!

Codes of conduct have largely made me feel more included. Changes to language have made me feel more included. I’m so sad to see that there’s a stampede running around open source undoing it all.

I used to feel so excluded in tech and I got harassed for months after making my first ever open source contribution because I changed some docs to use he/him/his to they/them/theirs. It’s a small change but it really makes a difference to what an environment is like for me.

I think you should be able to move windows by touching them anywhere, perhaps when using two or three fingers. Would make it a lot easier.
