It is a good one for her. It is her preference and wish that they not be allowed.

It is that simple. There is no reason to discuss it further nor argue about it. Whether it is a good policy to have is entirely up to her experiences over her time in meeting.

Making reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities is a good thing.

Making reasonable accommodations that violate someone else's rights is NOT.

Just like recording the meeting, unless all parties consent to it to abide by legal requirements, yes, it is an inherently bad thing to do.

The Professor has stated he does NOT consent to AI Notetakers in his meetings. That is the end of it. Hard stop.

There are other ways of taking notes that don’t require violation of privacy for others.

Recording for later use is a viable option so long as everyone agrees.

If the student absolutely requires an AI note taker, they would need something from a medical professional and the school.

Every meeting I have that an AI bot shows up, I make it clear the bot must go or I will not be in attendance.

I don’t have an issue with recordings when it’s the app itself doing it. But not an AI bot sending data to an unknown third and forth party.

Generally they are note takers but they do so by recording the meeting. The problem is in many jurisdictions it is required for all to consent to it.

If one person doesn’t, they are legally not allowed.

Then they should go through the SAR and get approval from the school. They have that power.
