Reading fiction from @charliejane.bsky.social for the first time and delighted to say I'm loving it!

Anthropologist gripe about #TheWarBetween - the UNIT people apply with a number of fakey "scientific" names for the undersea reptiles, but through 2 episodes I haven't caught anyone ask them what they call THEMSELVES.

So far (Ep. 1) #TheWarBetween is pretty good but I'm a bit miffed because there's no reason the main #DoctorWho couldn't have had more of this tone the last couple years.

Finally watching "Broadchurch" as it's on Hoopla.

The entire cast of "Doctor Who" for the last 15 years is in it.

I know Britain only has 12 actors, but REALLY.

In an adjacent universe.

(But note these are aliens, and "Star Trek's" big idea for creating an alien enemy, the Klingons, was just "make 'em swarthy". 😕

Here - have a couple Thals from "Doctor Who", a couple years eariler.

I see all this noise about "Ready Or Not 2", and I didn't even know there was a "Ready Or Not 1"

Am I out of touch, or is it just an oversaturated media landscape?

It can, I guess, be two things.

Finally watching "A Face In the Crowd" and my god, it's amazing.

"Strange Journey" is a well-crafted documentary about "Rocky Horror" - the show, the film, and the cult.

It's also a love letter from Linus O'Brien to his father Richard.

Fun and ultimately very moving.

Capital One has an ad featuring Santa working on his sleigh while the song "Greased Lightning" plays, which, given some of the lyrics, is an... INTERESTING choice.

Continuing watching "Max Headroom".

There was a fair amount of good TV in the US in the 1980s, but it's still amazing this show was on a major network.

I'm not really a "rankings" guy, but I'll tell you honestly: there's never been a "Star Wars" movie I didn't have a good time with while watching it.

That includes the Ewok ones.

Watching the Shakespeare episode of "Moonlighting" for the first time in decades and hey! Colm Meany!

It's the anniversary of the infamous Max Headroom signal intrusion incident, so for the first time in decades I'm watching the Max TV series.

Amazing how well it holds up, how prescient it was. It could almost have been made today.

My partner has been listening to #TotalEclipseOfTheHeart and says @bonnietyler.com could "tone it down".

I've begun divorce proceedings.

I wonder if original viewers watched something like "Duck Dodgers in the 24th 1/2 Century" and lamented that #LooneyTunes weren't "as good as they used to be" back when they had minstrel show-derived imps strutting around whistling. 🤔

Supporting #publicbroadcasting is the cool thing to do.

Go to the @pbs.org app and watch the #GreatPerformances presentation of "Twelfth Night". It's vibrant, funny, sexy, with an enormously talented cast.

Then give them some money to keep it coming.
