I've been walking as exercise for at least 35 years. Started for heart health and is now first and foremost for my mental health. Last year I took a wicked fall because of speed & not paying attention to the transition from decomposed granite onto concrete. Walking slower, sense of humor intact.

Can HI have a vaccine mandate for visitors and returning residents like we had for mandatory COVID testing? It's only fair that we have freedom of choice just like the anti-vaccine crowd. The Hawaiian population was decimated by colonizer diseases & it's shameful to think of it happening again.

Yes that part. As my Black friends said at the time, now we're merely the second most hated people in America. Also, they pointed out to me (like I hadn't already noticed) that my son looked like the guy third from the left in the NYT photo array of the hijackers. We laughed at the irony.

My son, who I adopted 40+ years ago is very brown skinned, Deaf, autistic, immigrant, naturalized citizen.
On the advice of an immigration lawyer, when he's in public, he wears a medical alert bracelet w/citizen status info, disabilities & my contact info. It's small assurance, decreasingly so. 😢
