What day is it?
…October?
Also, given the logjam of non-top pair Defense, an intriguing move would be selling high on Schneider. Besides the first few he’s struggled consistently since despite the team doing well.

Take that RFA status and go get more scoring, backfill with an average D.

Will never deny that I’ve doubted this whole season for NYR for months now, and it is still early, but while I thought Sullivan would be good I didn’t think the impact would be THIS definitive given the roster.

The Quinn special on the PP is painful to see, some regression to be had there perhaps.

There's absolutely some positive shot % regression to be had for NYR, but I don't see that it will be enough to make them anything more than a team that can only really win games in a 2-1 or 3-2 fashion. They just don't have the shooters they used to/the vets that still can have declined.

was going to reply last night with more angst however in the end if he's still doing this stuff and we're into DEC and he's not playing more all I'll say is that we've seen this story over, and over, and over, and over again despite different coaches.

NYR's current shot % woes pretty much boil down to chances from in-close. League ranks via @naturalstattrick.com at 5v5, SVA:

Scoring Chances For/60: 12th
SC Goals For/60: 28th
High Danger CF/60: 9th
HD GF/60: 28th

A combination of luck and less high-end shooting players (third attached image).

NYR ending up a top 10 shots & chances team plus getting the needed goaltending only to become undone by bottom 5 shooting would be some kind of poetry for the season.

Still monitoring from afar, won’t fall for it with this roster (yet).

my NYR season preview:

not getting the run game going seemed to throw everything for a loop (which, still need to manage that better, but Joe B. didn't really have a great adjustment for it).

"what if he shot me in the face?"

bingo here, and it also applies to NYR (they think their way is the best as it spits in the face of basic statistical choices).

if he doesn’t bounce back after this, from an outlier/statistically speaking sense, I’ll be fascinated.

I really hope he does, he’s been an unreal NHL player and just falling off a cliff at 33 doesn’t seem right.

does this mean Brendan Smith can come back so the Supporters Union can reconvene?
