This is what concerns me. The Republicans’ goal is to hold power indefinitely. Can they agree among themselves to make this happen? Would Vance just be the talking head?

The fascists have gotten really good at just brushing off any and all protests, negative comments, etc. This feels like a machine that can't be stopped.

They'll come for the indirect costs one by one, when each organization has to negotiate its Indirect Cost Rate Agreement every few years. That fight isn't over.

I can’t say for sure, but that’s possible. I think the earlier arrivals were more white collar, better educated, etc so I think that plays into it.

Grew up in Miami, Cuban family. Cubans who came in the 50s and 60s fancy themselves better than those Cubans who came during the Mariel boatlift (early 80s) and afterwards. So the earlier Cubans & their offspring still feel special and are probably ok with what's happening. Can't speak for the rest.

From a Cuban family myself and have tried to get that answer from my mom, who fled Castro, talks about how bad it was, yet does NOT see the parallels (or doesn't want to). I finally gave up.

I'm in FL and several of the hairdressers I know voted for Trump, FAFO I guess. I only feel bad for those who didn't but will also struggle.

Good Grief, no! Every morning my very first thought immediately after waking up is "What the hell is going to happen today?" Stock market dropping, hints of a recession, job worries (university research sector), country slipping into dictatorship and nobody doing anything about it, the list goes on.

This. Other countries will get tired of the whiplash. They'll make agreements with other countries and just cut the U.S. out, tariffs or not.

Spending on nothing except essentials, which is groceries and if there is any required repair around the house. I'm notorious for never having cash on hand, but now have a decent amount stashed.

I feel it’s been that way since Jan 20. Every single morning, my first thought is “what’s going to happen today?” It shouldn’t be like this. Working in university research is only adding to the worries.

I live in a very red state. If those small businesses are owned by Trump supporters, they can fail.

I firmly believe the Republican Party wants to make it so there are no more elections at all. Trump dies? They just name the successor. They’re ignoring every other rule of law, so why not this?

You can get a titer test done to determine if you have immunity. Some insurance plans cover it, others don’t so you would have to pay out of pocket. Serach online for MMR titer test in your area.
