“Older people shouldn’t write younger characters” is the age gap panic taken to a truly wild extreme.

I’m almost 40 and most of my characters are between 12-17. Because, like you said, I remember what it’s like to BE those ages!

This novel has involved a in-depth research, including numerous first person accounts and testimonies, and I’m aware of the controversies surrounding the Uprising and how it has been politicized by everyone from the communist government to PiS.

My debut novel, which was also a historical fantasy that dealt with the Holocaust and the German occupation, was translated into Polish and I was invited by Biblioteka Kraków to speak to school children about it because they felt it accurately represented real events.

I understand your concern. I’m a Jewish person who has I’ve spent 20 years studying the Holocaust and since 2016, I’ve traveled to Poland every summer to work with forensic archeologists to investigate and document war-time mass graves.
