Just changed by order of a second PT2 to a PR2. I really, really, really, really thought hard about having three of them, but then I realised I'd ALSO bought the ring thing too and that I need to calm down.

It's amazing how many people don't seem to get this. If you have guaranteed access to a parking spot with electricity nearby - even just a standard outlet - EVs are a no-brainer, but for anyone parking on a public road it's almost impossible to run one practically.

Another option: reboot it while holding down CMD+R to boot into Recovery mode. From there you can use Disk Utility to securely wipe the internal drive and do a fresh install of MacOS.

I can barely understand people going out of their way to cause panic, suffering and death to animals, but the idea of people who are prepared to risk inflicting that on other people in the name of their passtime really paints an image of how dangerous a lack of basic empathy can be.

Buyer beware? Yeah, honestly I don't think I've willingly opted in to any new year since 2012. They shouldn't be able to assume consent. We need GDPR for time.

There's something satisfying about getting a fuckload of machines wiped and into an MDM. I used to run IT for multiple schools and I remember the pushback I got when I started insisting that all new laptops support USB-C charging and zero-touch enrolment.

Done right, digital signage is great and cheaper in the long-run, especially somewhere with seasonal menus. But, yeah, adverts that cover the menu tell you a lot about how little some distant middle-manager thinks about their customers.
