Got another one, this time from Semper Libertas Action New Jersey PAC
A religious-focused flier in support of Jack Ciattarelli for NJ Governor. The left has a stained glass window, the right has a statue of Mary, and the middle states “Protect your family with your vote.” Below that text is a red circle that states “Advance vote in person starting October 25th” A political flier in support of Jack Ciatterelli made by Semper Libertas Action New Jersey PAC. It has a statue of Mary on the left and Jack Ciatterelli in a suit with his arms crossed while he’s smiling on the right; he has four slogans to his immediate left that say the following: “Make NJ Affordable Again” (cringe), “Clean Out Corruption” (I’m sure he will), “Keep Men Out of Girls’ Sports” (transphobic; notice the phrasing of men vs girls, rather than boys or women, clearly meant to fearmonger), and “Stop Gender Mutilation of Kids” (also transphobic). In the middle, the message reads as follows: “Our faith is not just what we believe. It's how we live, love, and serve. A flier paid for by Choice for Change, an account of the NJ Republican State Committee (PO Box 68, Summit, NJ, 07902). Their website is www.njgop.org, and they’re not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee. The flier is for state assembly candidates Chris Musto and Diane DeBiase, labeled as “The Affordability Team”, along with a photo of the two of them in the top right. They’re claiming by to be fighting to lower taxes and end crazy electric & utility bill increases. A flier sent within NJ’s LD-36 that’s anti-Democrat which states that “The Mamdani Agenda has arrived in New Jersey” with pictures of current assembly members Gary Schaer and Clinton Calabrese are pictured surrounding a picture of Zohran Mamdani (likely future mayor of NYC), with the tagline below saying “Let’s keep the radical Mamdani Agenda out of NJ”. Several alleged negatives of Schaer and Calabrese are included on the side, including “A corrupt bill to give incentives to towns that raised their property taxes”, “A $1 billion tax hike on NJ small businesses”, “Supporting crazy energy policies that are driving up our electric bills”, and “All the while, Trenton insiders like Gary Schaer and Clinton Calabrese voted to give themselves a pay raise while voting to raise your taxes.” Whether these statements are true is likely twisted based on a Republican lens.

A New York Times update posted 52 minutes ago by Glenn Thrush and Devlin Barrett regarding the killing of Charlie Kirk: According to a preliminary internal report circulated inside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, federal and local officials recovered ammunition with the rifle that appeared to be engraved with statements "expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology." But a senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation cautioned that report had not been verified by A.T.F. analysts, did not match other summaries of the evidence, and might turn out to have been misread or misinterpreted. In fast-moving investigations, such status reports are not made public because they often contain a mixture of accurate and inaccurate information.

MASTERCARD is correct, they didn't talk to Itch.io or @Steam, they talked to the Internet Merchant Account... (or I.M.A.) that is usually owned by a Bank, Credit Union or financial institution who acts as the 'Credit Card Processor' and it is the processor's job to provide an Internet Gateway from a website's online store to MASTERCARD/VISA/American Express/Discover (etc.) and back. What LIKELY happened here IS... Collective Soul contacted Visa and Mastercard (as we've been doing), as they were not getting the movement they wanted directly from the stores (Steam & Itch.io), so they went directly to VISA & MASTERCARD... complained and someone from those companies either provided information of who @Steam and Itch.io's Internet Merchant Accounts (IMA's) were... or, directly contacted the Internet Merchant Account (IMA) to tell them to enforce the "Product & Service Rules" in regard to "Branding" (protecting the Visa/Mastercard brand) and the respective Internet Merchant Accounts (IMA... I.e.: BANK) for each website then contacted Steam and Itch.io and told them that they needed to clean up their book of products or be turned off and be 'black listed' and unable to get another processor to continue to operate and conduct online sales. I KNOW THIS because I am one of the creators and used to be one of the owners of Renderosity and Renderotica and I had to do this B.S. dance on the whims of banks, processors and credit card companies on a regular basis... even as far back as 1999/2000.

For example, Citigroup instituted a policy. in 2018 to withhold project-related financing for coal plants, and in 2020, five of the country's largest banks announced they would not provide loans or credit to support oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, despite explicit congressional authorization. Such exclusionary practices also extend to industries protected by the Second Amendment, with Capital One, among other banks, previously including "ammunitions, firearms, or firearm parts" in the prohibited payments section of its corporate policy manual, and payment services like Apple Pay and PayPal denying their services for transactions involving firearms or ammunition. First Lady Melania Trump and technology companies alike allege banks have debanked them or refused to do business. During his address to the World Economic Forum in January, President Trump highlighted big banks and their discriminatory practices of targeting conservatives.

It does allow for legal action which is good. But again, how these “quantitative, impartial risk-based standards” are defined and handled by each bank and how the administration handles each case will be something to keep an eye on.
Cause Of Action For Violations Of This Section. in the Fair Access to Banking Act “(1) IN GENERAL.— Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a person may commence a civil action in the appropriate district court of the United States against any covered bank that violates or fails to comply with the requirements under this Act, for harm that person suffered as a result of such violation. (2) NO EXHAUSTION.—It shall not be necessary for a person to exhaust its administrative remedies before commencing a civil action under this Act. (3) DAMAGES.—If a person prevails in a civil action under this Act, a court shall award the person— (A) reasonable attorney's fees and costs; and (B) treble damages.” In the Requirements section: “(B) may not deny any person a financial service the covered bank offers unless the denial is justified by such quantified and documented failure of the person to meet quantitative, impartial risk-based standards established in advance by the covered bank; (C) may not deny, in coordination with or at the request of others, any person a financial service the covered bank offers; and (D) shall, when denying any person financial services the covered bank offers, provide written justification to the person explaining the basis for the denial, including any specific laws or regulations the covered bank believes are being violated by the person or customer, if any.”

I’ll start by saying I’m not a financial or legal expert. That said, this first addition gives me pause, as it seems to suggest that any big bank that denies business to someone who’s done nothing legally wrong but are being denied based on social conditions will not get access to 1/x

Just finished reading One of the Boys by @dirtbagqueer.rocks! Incredible, kept me going for over 300 pages while being heartfelt, hilarious, and exhilarating. Loved all of those goofballs. If there’s one book you buy this summer, make this it.
