New at Beer Bars Japan: OL serves an excellent selection of twenty beers and ciders on tap, including a line-up from Oslo Brewery. The food is Tex-Mex - tacos, quesadillas (plain cheese or cheese plus meat), tortilla chips (with guacamole or pica de gallo), and jalapeno poppers. #tokyo #craftbeer

If you're familiar with Japanese spice curry shops, the dishes at Cinnamon Garden will look and taste familiar, as spice curry is strongly influenced by Sri Lankan food. The spices are from the chef's mother, who lives in Sri Lanka, and the resulting flavors are rich and deep. #tokyo #spicecurry

Muy's dramatically lit bar is an impressive sight, stretching half a city block and offering a stunning nighttime view. The atmosphere is lively but not too noisy to impede conversation, and prices are quite reasonable.

The Xmas tree display in Toranomon Hills T-Market is tastefully arranged without ornaments or lights. It's furnished with wrap-around seating, so you can stop by for a moment and pretend you're in a forest. #tokyo

New at Bento - "Jimbocho landmark Bondy has been serving classic Japanese curries for half a century now, and they're still drawing the crowds. Their excellent curry roux is made from fond de veau simmered with a mix of fruits, vegetables and spices to achieve a complex sweetness." #tokyo #curry

Travel notes: Sobameshi - a mashup of yakisoba and fried rice flavored with stewed beef tendon - is Kobe's unique contribution to Japan's down-to-earth "B-kyu gourmet" culture. Tankubo has been serving it since the 1950s.

There's a crab on the loose near Tokyu's Gakugei Daigaku Station, with multiple crab sightings reported over the last 6 weeks.

I've got "there's a kani on the loose" going round my head to the tune of Thin Lizzy's Killer on the Loose now 😁🦀
