I agree, there are huge barriers for getting into journalism, particularly for working class people. I’d argue it’s even worse than a living wage issue (Mill Media’s titles including the Bell pay salaries well over this of course), because unpaid work placements are so commonplace …

But in recent months one of the city’s long-standing jokes has turned much more sinister. After 30 years as a Dundas Street institution, is Best Kebab’s relationship with Glasgow’s citizens turning toxic?

Ah Best Kebab, what a peculiar place; a sarbeni used to be a student loan payday treat after a night out. It was always fairly ropey, but what’s been happening recently is a shame - as reported by @robbiejourno.bsky.social

Thanks Peter. I heard the sarbeni genuinely used to be special. Sadly I don’t think that’s still the case. Best Kebab is the butt of so many jokes, yet reporting on this story was far from fun 😔 It’s a dire situation

'Time to look after our own not everyone else'

We can now unmask one of the men behind north Glasgow's saltires and his violent anti-migrant posts.

You may have seen saltires flying from lampposts across north Glasgow lately. Well, we've found out that one of the members of the team behind it is a Nazi-sympathiser.

Here's what the rail network in central Glasgow needs to look something like by 2040:

🇵🇸 The story of one young scholar’s plight to get from Gaza to Glasgow for his studies.

🧯Another vehicle firebombed in Pollokshields over the weekend - what’s going on?

🙊Plus, West End hospitality gossip, vigilante artwork and yet more vandalism at Langside Halls.

The Guardian has today printed the names, and where possible, images, of all the media workers killed in Gaza, as part of an international day of action involving more than 150 media organisations.
