One third of ALL council housing building started in London this year has been by Lib Dem Sutton council.

A great achievement from the Lib Dem team - but also a reflection that Labour have failed on housing - contributing to our terrible levels of homelessness.

Campaign report: Stockwell, Lambeth

Lots of support for the brilliant local Lib Dem team last night - with people raising the woeful state of Lambeth council, the budget and Labour's pandering to Reform.

As usual now, very few people are happy with Labour.

Thanks to the brilliant Stockwell team out tonight... Now enjoying a meal together afterwards.

Lots of people unhappy about the budget and Labour generally, including their plan to restrict indefinite leave to remain.

Today's immigration figures suggest that the government may achieve the OBR's low immigration scenario.

Which makes an average family roughly £400 a year worse off by 2029.

Fascinating to hear people's views in Brent tonight.

In a traditionally very Labour area, not one person was sticking with them, and everybody was open to voting Lib Dem.

Issues raised included the budget and the mess caused by Brexit.

To be fair this is very common, though usually not that high a fee.

Eg this from Jordan

And by coincidence here is a perfect local story from Rachel.
November 25, 2025 at 12:57 PM
Yesterday night I joined the Southwark Lib Dems team in Bermondsey. Lots of love for Rachel and the local team, as well as frustration with a dangerous change to the roads recently.

And, as always, people concerned about the rise of Reform - and Labour pandering to them.

Thanks to everybody who came out campaigning in Bermondsey tonight.

Lots of love for the Lib Dem team, and concern about the rise of Reform.

Another day of listening to people who are disappointed with Labour- on the cost of living and pandering to Reform.

Economics Nobel prize winner Philippe Aghion may have had the most stereotypically Parisian childhood possible.

Mother founded Chloe. Was taught German by Karl Lagerfeld. Became communist after hanging out with surrealists.

Mahmood says that 'highly skilled' health workers are welcome BUT also that low paid care workers aren't welcome.

What about the highly skilled care workers?
November 21, 2025 at 10:09 AM
Care workers are presumably seen as unskilled by Labour - because they are singled out for 10 year residency when 'skilled' health workers only have a 5 year wait.

It's also really weird to make this argument when you don't plan to cut debt servicing costs.

She's saying that they are bad - but very unlikely to significantly change them.
November 20, 2025 at 12:09 PM
It's an odd choice for Labour to think that aping Trump's fashion is a good idea.

Baseball cap + suit?

The leader of Camden Labour has fled Fortune Green ward (where his colleague is the brilliant Lib Dem Nancy Jirira) to a safer ward across the borough.

Labour clearly feeling scared of the Camden Lib Dems team.

Good to see that the government is going to give Mayors a tourist tax.

Something I suggested in my manifesto last year - an easy way to raise money for policing - which operates successfully in many other countries.

It's starting to get difficult to keep track of all the Labour councillors who are quitting in London.

In Southwark it's 6% of their councillors in one week.

And I got to knock on my old front door too!
November 15, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Today it's been fantastic to go out campaigning with our newest @libdems.org.uk London councillor, former Labour Mayor of Lambeth, Tina Valcarcel.

People are disillusioned with Labour in Lambeth, and ready for a change.
November 15, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Labour's plans on asylum are so extreme that they are being welcomed by Rupert Lowe MP - a man thrown out of Reform for being too extreme.

Is AI driving productivity in aggregate?

New figures from McKinsey suggest not:

1. Deployment is still fairly early stages - and in limited parts of companies - most commonly marketing, IT, knowledge management.

Energy abundance.... Electricity is almost free at 3am if you have a battery.

The biggest news this week that hasn't been reported:

We now have the technology to cut carbon emissions by 75%.

We can spend the next 10 years just deploying this technology - which usually saves money now - while we find solutions for the remaining 25%.
