This has been an exceptional season for films, with Mohammad Rasoulof's incredibly brave "Seed of the Sacred Fig" being a standout. Made in secret, illegally, in post-Mahsa Amini Tehran, it's a searing examination of how authoritarian dictatorships strangle societies and destroy individuals.

If you get the chance, catch this film, a marvelous directing debut from Denzel Washington's son Malcolm (in the baseball cap) with a ferocious and fearless lead performance by Danielle Deadwyler (between Malcolm and John David Washington).
