This isn't the map you showed on screen last week. It's more detailed and there's an extra tram-train line from Portobello to Leith (the Seafield line). Can't wait for the next version!

Thanks! We have a bird's eye view of the trams from our flat and the roof looks full up! I'll need to ask Mr Harrison about that - he's not mentioned it before

Good to know, if it applies even to our 2012/13 trams. The Birmingham trams are only on battery power over short distances, so perhaps batteries could get our trams across the Dean Bridge. Where on the tram would they fit them?

Constitution Street is closed to through traffic - local access only. The problem with Dean Bridge is it's a bridge, 120 ft high - extra safety measures would be required. But if the council opts for the Dean Bridge route, no doubt these issues will be properly examined, if belatedly

Yes, as in Birmingham, except that we have 27 long and heavy trams not designed for battery operation. We would need a new fleet of shorter lighter trams

Except that all other road traffic would also have to be alternate one-way working. The council needs to model that scenario to see what effect it would have on roads in the West End

It's not just weight that's a concern. To allow for pedestrians and cyclists as well as trams and road traffic, only alternate single-line working would be possible. HGVs could not safely pass trams head on. Also crash barriers would be required, as well as poles for wires.
