have the army. Should Rodriguez choose a transition, there’s two vetos right there. Of course collaboration w/US remains the best option for Rodriguez (who is now the opposition’s only hope). Rodriguez can play her cards right so her trump card is (literally) Trump.

Machado has no mandate, Trump is correct. As opposed to González, who has one save for one catch—Rodriguez now has *the* army (for now). I wouldn’t discount Padrino López, nor Cabello. The time will come where they get disenchanted with Rodriguez’s (correct) detente w/US. Then who knows who will…

If I had to venture to guess, the US will strike ELN/FARC dissident targets in Catatumbo,that operate across the border, frustrating Colombian authorities. It’s the lynchpin of global cocaine production. I doubt strikes within Colombia will end up in the strike package.
