My impression: most promising non-linear solution approaches (that would permit large shocks/asymmetries/etc.) are the various Deep Learning/Neural Network approaches like "DeepHAM", Sun's "Continuation Value", and early works of "Fernández-Villaverde, Hurtado, & Nuño 2023"&"Maliar^2 Winant 2021".
