I also enjoy the -0% and +0%. I get what they meant ("-5% to 0%" and "0% to +5%", respectively), but that's not how labeling works.

But I admit to being salty mostly because I'm red-green colorblind, so I'm gonna roast them no matter what for that alone.

Adam Ragusea makes a somewhat more positive case for it, FWIW.

I was gonna make a joke that if you tied in _The Art of War_, you'd have a bestseller manuscript on your hands, then I realized that that *was* kinda what Sun Tzu was doing at the time....

AFAICT from the text of the HR that the discharge petition forces a vote on, it's an actual bill that will then need to be passed by the Senate, and signed by the President (or have his veto overridden). The House vote doesn't force anything by itself, I don't think.

Once read an advice column letter from someone who felt obligated out of politeness to not press the button for an earlier floor than someone who had already pressed a button. He would choose a floor farther and take the stairs.

I probably think about this more than he does, now.

I like C. Thi Nguyen's take on games as art where the medium is agency. Games, especially video games, can also *contain* narrative art (and visual art and musical art) in addition that may be of value as specimens of those media, but the unique artform of games qua games is in their use of agency.

"META" in the post title means that it was a meta-post from the mods to the community about community business (rather than the usual on-topic post). Meta the company isn't involved anywhere. The bad actor is a research group from the University of Zurich.

Article III, Section 3, Clause 1: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

There's a reason the Constitution very tightly circumscribes the definition of treason in the text itself.

Venice. Check the last footnote in that article for more arcane details concerning the orginal and replica, if that's important.

The TPM journalist @hunterw.bsky.social does "artisanal" verification, mostly of journalists and politicians, that he makes available through a labeler.

Indeed. Save the emotional gratification for the like-minded group chat and separately find *some* authentic way to connect, if minimally, with the latecomers. Or at least, do no harm to the cause and let others deal with the latecomers.

Because of this, I think the fact that they are prioritizing speed of reductions over anything else suggests to me that they want to use these on-paper reductions as pay-fors for tax cuts in the coming budget fight. And not much vision beyond that.
