I think that the third idea sounds like it'd really fit for how we think of Rudolph! It makes sense that Rudolph would be the runt of the herd, but heralded for the glowing nose. I imagine the others being bigger since it makes them suited for pulling the sleigh.

who is so content with being unambitious and inoffensive that they blatantly overlook major issues that need fixing. They end up losing elections to reactionary right-wingers because of that.

It seems that the progressive left in the United States is in a catch-22 situation right now. If they are too reactionary, too sensitive, and too fixated on fighting injustices, they will get written off as 'woke' and out of touch with reality. Then, we have the lukewarm, garden-variety liberal [c]
