No, I don't. In fact, I don't have a very vivid description in any of the books he appears in. I kind of like to leave that to the imagination of the reader, who is experiencing the bulk of the story from his POV.

The MC is a boy training to be a temple guard, from my Pit Guard series. The shifts don't affect him directly. They redirect the plot (that I've amended several times), which then affects all the characters in a variety of ways. This happens to me whenever I write, making it even more enjoyable.

I ended up writing a scene shift to another character in a different location. It worked out well, introducing another complication that marries smoothly into the main narrative.
At other times, I've used time jumps and emotional beats.
