It was for sure. On the upside my grandmother was afraid to fly decided we should fly home. So my 1st flight (I loved it) and she was ok with flying after that so no more train trips to San Fran. 😀

It was crazy, the train hit a car in Pasadena. It broke down over night at the Salton Sea. While waiting for a new engine half the train lost air conditioning, they ran out of food, & the bathrooms broke. They said they’d notify the hotel but didn’t. So no room when we got there 36 hours late.

When I was a kid & teen every year we’d vacation & take the train to one or more of the cities; SF, Portland, & Seattle, or drive to San Diego. The last time I was there for a train was at 16 when we were going across country, 1st stop New Orleans. It was 36 hour late nightmare. We flew home 😁.

毎朝、向こう三軒両隣の外掃除をされ、ご近所の皆に愛されている外国生まれの好々爺がいらっしゃいます🌿

立ち話で「なぜお隣の掃除もされるんですか」と尋ねると、結婚して帰化したのは、日本文化も大好きだったからで、向こう三軒両隣は、都市化や個人主義で希薄化はしていても、ご近所同士が自然な見守りとして助け合う暮らしの知恵が大好きだからと言って微笑まれました。

海外では、防犯（Community Watch）と地域運営（Neighborhood Association）として制度・組織化されており、社会的な仕組みは違えど互助精神は、世界共通の価値観なのだとも教えてくださいました～大切にしたい想い😸

That is very cool. Our neighborhood association is responsible for putting in murals on crosswalks to make them more noticeable thus reducing accidents. We started this week.
