I think "I can't reply in email. Will call." is the first Epstein email I've seen where I'm not having to read it two or more times to figure out what they're trying to say through the spelling errors, typos and weird abbreviations.

He even used punctuation!

I'll have to pay closer attention to helmets, I feel like I have though!

I was pretty sure I'd seen this guy once. Sure enough it's in my dashcam folder labeled "guy drives by on weird thing"!

way to the airport.

It's really obvious they should just have chargers on site, give you a fully charged car and let you return it empty.

My first job was at an equipment rental place in 2002, we had chargers for our electric equipment and did not check charge levels on returns.

I had a trip where I thought I'd rent an EV, the total distance I was going to need to drive was less than 200 miles, so it seemed like that would be easy no need to deal with charging probably.

Then I found out the car might not be charged when I pick it up, and I'd have to charge it on the...

I'm sure someone else has said this before, but if you ever find yourself doing anything with an amount of money you refer to as your "life savings" you need to stop and seriously reconsider.

Just mentioning European ATMs makes me annoyed that ours only dispense $20 or $100 bills.

My first car was a 1991 Civic Si hatchback, which actually had about the same footprint as the Fit. The Fit has so much more space inside, in addition to four doors. It's kind of dumb the Fit is now considered too small, when that older Civic was a popular and normal car.
December 23, 2025 at 3:22 AM
I know a number of US Fit owners, my wife included, who have vowed to never buy another car unless Honda brings the Fit back.

At this point my wife's is accumulating about 1,000 miles per year, it has a good shot at lasting another 40 years!

Honda should at least bring the Fit back occasionally, like the McRib.

If Frodo just set the ring on the front porch would the Nazgul have just picked it up and left?

I think in a sane world the conservative's viewpoint would be that all we need to do to address climate change is switch to electric cars, while progressives would be fighting for less car dependency and less need for large battery long range cars.

When I first got my cargo bike I wasn't sure how motivated I would be to ride once we got into winter.

That first year I realized Thanksgiving and Christmas are actually the best times to ride a bike and avoid dealing with the parking lot!

expert on them but it seemed like they have a limit on headlight height, you can exceed it but then you have to aim the lights downward at a steeper angle.
November 25, 2025 at 4:16 PM
You're probably aware but this is already done on some cars. Like on the Hyundai Kona the lower lights that stylistically look like fog lights are actually the headlights, and the higher lights are just running lights.

I got curious about this and looked up South Korea's headlight laws, I'm not an

So to the question of why go up to $10.3bn if your employees only want to sell $6.6bn, OpenAI wouldn't have known the employees only wanted to sell $6.6bn. The share price and maximum number of shares is settled with the buyers, and is then offered to the employees. It's not an active negotiation.

overvalue things we have in our possession. Some OpenAI employees probably do believe the company is worth more.

I have personally held onto shares I thought were overvalued because I thought probably the value would still go up before it crashes.

In a very basic sense if someone offers to buy a stock from you at $723, and you say no, that indicates you think the stock is worth more than $723.

The reality for the employees is more complicated. Most likely have way too much of their theoretical net worth in OpenAI stock. We tend to...

that's how much the buyers get. If employees had collectively submitted $15bn, then the employees do not get to sell all the shares they offered.

In short OpenAI did not try to sell $10.3bn and only sold $6.6bn. Investors tried to buy $10.3bn and employees only sold $6.6bn.

some amount, in this case 14.2 million shares, or $10.3bn.

Employees with stock then receive an email that says you can sell your stock for $723 per share. You have until a set date to let us know how many shares you want to sell.

Employees submitted a total of $6.6bn of shares to sell, so...

is not publicly traded, they can't just sell that stock whenever they want.

To allow employees to sell their stock, the company will go out and find funds that want to buy some of the company stock. OpenAI comes up with a stock price (in this case I think $723), and the fund offers to buy...

I think you may have an incomplete understanding of how these purchase offers work. I'm not an expert or lawyer or anything, but I've been through a bunch of them as an ex-employee of a not-publically-traded tech company.

Employees get part of their compensation as stock, but because the company...
