And journalists/commentators hate it when they're not engaging in persuasion or revelation. For them the act of writing becomes boring and for a lot of readers it's boring too. (Which isn't to say it shouldn't be done. Brushing teeth is boring. Keeping the rage burning should be equivalent.)

Hot take: I don't think she's quite wrong, she just misdiagnoses the issue. What makes writing about Trump boring isn't his lack of moral backbone (that's his shtick.) It's that a third of the media's audience has no empathy which means there's no persuasion in exposure. Just preaching to the choir.

Question: In what world is transparency greater with private in stead of public actors? Profit motives are absolute anti-transparency and compound at every level. If you're right on a structural level then shifting to a m4a model is absolutely better as a baseline than a for-profit model.
